Default Am I short of retainer rings or something?

So, I am building my Rubicon Kit and everything is going fine, I got my axles built and ready to go and I moved onto the drive shafts. Things are going just peachy but, apparently Axial forgot to put a couple Retainer rings in, as it seems I only have two. If I am not mistaken, I need two for each drive shaft, correct? I checked the other bags and such, but I could only find the two rings.

Yes. The directions seem sort of vague with those.

Yeah there should be 2 for each driveshaft assembly and they just snap on and hold the CV pin in.

Curse You, Axial!!! Yeah, I figured out how they go on, no problem. It's just...they only seem to have put 2 of them into the kit. Oh well.

Hehehe, heck I could make some out of tubing if I really wanted to, but I still have the rest of the kit to build. Maybe I will pick up the aluminium ones, or some MIP ones. It's still fun so far, though.

Hmm thats weird don't they come on a plastic tree? If the plastic tree is missing the parts, check the box or bag. The retainer rings are part #AX80084 (3)... The 3 is the part on the plastic tree.

You should have had 2 trees of #AX80084, and each tree should have 2 retainer rings

I will have to double check when I get home but they were on the same tree as the drive shafts, and I only had one sheet of those. It'd be nice if I just missed it anyway.

Yeah there should be two sheets of drive shafts in the kit. I just built mine last week, plus the instructions say there are two sheets.

Axial Racing - WB8 Driveshaft Retainer Ring (Aluminum) (2pcs)

* note... lists as 2 per package

I bought the RTR so haven't had those apart yet...
but the instructions listed in the Owner's Manual
clearly show only one tree, containing 2 each #3 part(s) (rings) for AX80084
^ page 12

Yet the illustrations on page 19
show what looks to be a ring on both male and female side !?

now I'm just more confused

They must think you will need a lot of axles, as there were enough to make three drive shafts on one sheet.

options... for either the three/four link set up (wheel base)
dependent on the SCX-10 model or assembler's choice.

^ would be my guess

Hrmmm, well after rummaging through all my sheets, I did find the other set of retainer rings. Kudos Axial!! However, I don't know why they give 5 driveshafts, do they really think you will break that many? Sheesh. Lol. I wish they gave some other spares.

those are not really extras... they're for different model configurations.

I dunno what instructions you are looking at but I have the kit manual right in front of me. Page 9, lists AX80084 tree x2. Plus I just built it so I can verify there is 2 trees. If your manual says differently get the kit manual
from the axial website (i haven't looked at RTR manual, but i'm guessing they just list all the parts since you dont have to build it like real men do)
