| Upper shock mount location
I read through the tips and tricks section on here for the scx10 section. Found a few things im willing to try. Ive cut the rubber shock stoppers off the shafts to get alittle more travel on the rear but in the front it still hits the steering link..is their a way to eliminate it hitting and actually get full travel out of the front shocks????? Also the shocks are mounted straight up and down pretty much..Is it an improvement to lean the shocks (Front and rear) in towards the center??? Looking at the truck from the passenger side with the front facing to the right; the rear shock is mounted on the very outer hole towards the back and the front the very outer hole towards the front...If I move the front shock mounting in to the inner hole and the rear out to the outer hole; is this a good change???? |

I shaved off a little bit off the forward face of the servo mounts. This allows the servo to mount slightly further to the rear and should help clear the forward cross member. Other's say... that they notched the forward cross member to help with servo horn clearance issues. I didn't have to do that. I have the longer Honcho 4 link rods... I had to put a 2-3mm spacer on the upper links... so that the castor angle improved the drive shaft's angle. Installing those upper 2-3mm spacers tends to push the servo/linkage forward and cause interference with servo horn/linkage and the forward cross member. well... that my experience anyways. | |

When i press down on the front suspension the frame hits the top of the steering link bolt on the passenger side and i can only get maybe half compression of the shock.

| Re: Upper shock mount location Guess Axial had a reason for puttng those compression stops on their CO's Lose the stock flexible steering linkage... either purchase or make new alloy link rods for the steering. * remember... you need clearance for the axle's center junk at full steer left-right. It can be a bend in the primary rod... or offsetting rod link ends. I use the later and it just touches the center chunk at full driver (stock) !! this link rod set up is harder on the plastic steering knuckles. and so this mod might lead to alloy knuckle replacements... Stock/weak servos hate it too ! But hey... it's just money. Lol Last edited by TacoCrawler; 09-03-2013 at 03:58 PM. |

I use a lift kit - I run 2.2s on both my SCX10s as well, so on one of them I run a lift kit to provide clearance for the 2.2s and to allow the shocks full compression. I run the lift kit on my SCX10 that has a 4-link rear as those 4-link mounts hit under full compression as well. Other option would be to move up to a 100mm or 110mm shock. |
