| Issues with 4-Link front - Rubicon RTR
So I just installed the Plasitk 4 Link in the front. I think the links are little longer than with the 3-link so it kind of creates an angle and the servo move litte more forward. To make the servo clear I had to remove this one part that connects the 2 frame pieces. Is this normal??? Here you can the the angle created by the 4 link. ESC is mounted on the servo: Last edited by soundmaster; 10-26-2013 at 07:50 PM. |

Normal if your upper links are somewhat longer then they're supposed to be... You'll want to keep that forward cross member in place... or else the frame rails could get bent. The fix is... for some... whittling out some material from the cross member is a quick and easy fix... tho' not my choice. Instead... I moved the servo rearward slightly... I shaved off some of the material from the nylon servo mounts. This allowed the servo to sit father rearward... and mine just clears the cross member. I did not need reposition the servo plate. After shaving the forward face of the servo mount(s) and if it still hits... shorten the upper link rods by one millimeter (at a time) until it clears. Generally... The upper link rods control the axle's caster position... The lower link rods control the wheel base length. The reason your servo hits (likely the servo horn) is because you have rotated the axle forward (clockwise when looking from the passenger side). Shortening your upper links will turn the axle rearward and help clear the forward cross member... But too much... and it will cause your pinion angle to become more severe. Possibly your choice of rod ends is longer then the original ? That's usually what makes the upper links longer then what they were intended to be. |

Thanks for the advice. I just took the plastic parts from the parts-tree. It is a RTR rubicon. I will soon upgrade to aluminium links and I will make the upper links litte shorter then. At the moment I probably leave it as is. Also there is another cross member at the front holding the bumper. This should be stong enough to hold the frame rails. I removed that piece from mine and my son's SCXs. Both have straight frames, still.

Its possible you installed the wrong links..For the servo to move like it did you tilted the whole axle upward meaning the links could be too long on the top or too short on the bottom...If im not mistaken the uppers should be shorter than the lowers. Thiers 4 different lengths for all the suspension links..Use the smaller 2 for the front with the longer ones going to the front lowers. The part you removed was put there to mount the front battery tray assemble...I removed it on mine as well..Shouldnt be a big problem. You actually have a little more suspension compression by not having that on there. Last edited by 6sharky9; 10-26-2013 at 11:21 PM. |

Strange. I just installed the shortest Links that were on the parts tree (AX80043 / 2) Anyone else having this Issue? |

I think they are the same..Let some others comment and see if that's normal or not..In all honesty its not a bad thing to have a little more pinion angle..Alot actually change lengths to achieve this to get a better driveline angle. But see what some others say about it..My thoughts were maybe you had the links backwards as far as which one went to the upper and lower. As far as how the servo sits if it still turns correctly then it shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think...just check for any binding. |

Sounds like your axle is over-clocked a bit more than it should be, only way to change that is to shave down the upper links a bit to get it to clear just enough or get ones that fit if you don't want to remove or cut into the supports

Also double check to see it you have the right rod ends on, and does your wheelbase match up
