Default Yet another rear steer question Axial SCX10 2012 rubicon

So searching for rear steer pulls a dictionary of information. Most of it all the same. I am posting yet another rear steer thread, but have a different approach.

I have a dual stick DX5 5 ch 2.4Ghz digital transmitter an receiver in my rig. The transmitter has a toggle an a momentary switch, one of which I want to use to trigger the rear steer when steering the front wheels.

So there's my question.
I am guessing I would use the power an ground from the 5th channel to power the rear steering servo, an the digital signal from the steering channel.

Has anyone tried anything like this?

The reason I am not using the other 2 channels from the 2 sticks, they are being used for the fpv (First Person Video) system. My left stick controls throttle an camera left an right. My right stick controls steering an camera up an down.

Thanks,
John

Well, with help from the DIYDrone site an Hobbyking I found a solution.

Off my steering channel on the receiver, I hook up a servo "Y" cable an reverser. Of course I will be hooking the front servo to the normal side of the Y cable.

On the 5th channel of my receiver, I will be hooking up a electronic switch such as this...

Dr. Mad Thrust Electronic On/Off Switch

If you click on the link, you will see the connector on the output side looks like a female servo connector with the signal pin missing. So I will be running a single wire on the signal pin from the Reverser to the missing pin on the electronic switch. An of course the Rear servo will be plugged into that female connector.

The end result will be that the servo will see a signal 100% of the time, but only activate when power is supplied to it from the electronic switch connected to channel 5.
