I asked him the other day how to mirror a transmission, then he sends me this video link. It helped me out a lot when I mirrored mine. Still don't have my esc though....

I was able to follow along and have but one suggestion. The only additional hardware removal needed to flip the transmission mounting plate are the two rear shock hoop screws and one rear bumper plate screw on either side. With those out you can spread the frame rails sufficiently to remove the tranny plate and flip it around. No need to remove the shocks or any of the front end hardware.

So on the truck, you used the green spacers instead of the plastics from the parts tree?

I was just looking mine over again, being concerned with wiring getting into the spur teeth. Can the back and gear cover still work? What will the issue be?

you cant use the spur cover because you took off the mounting plate for it. you might be able to rig up something though.

Yes, what I referred to as the "back" plate. Can that not be put back on as well? I guess I don't see the issue it "looks" like it would work, but if it would work I also think why wouldn't people have done that to begin with. I'm new lol and now my head hurts thinking about it.

The easy way to know it's mirrored is the "axial" on the aluminum motor plated faces in to the tranny. Afaik because of the molded spacers on the motor plate with the gear cover, it can't be mirrored. But don't quote me on that as I've only dealt with one on my kid's rig. For years there were no gear covers available to stop from munching wires, zip ties for wires near moving parts work wonders.

The green spacers are the same as the one from the parts tree. They were left over parts i had from a ax10

The spur cover back plate cant be used because it can not be flipped over to go on the back of the Transmission. I have never had any wiring get into my spur my battery is up front.

Just a suggestion, but you can also just unbolt the skid and swap it around, putting the spur forward. This does the same thing with moving the motor to the right side of the chassis.

This is a mod that is probably as old as the AX-10 kit itself.

In this case the motor will be to the right but behind the skid, the idea of the mirrored mod is to put the motor forward and to the right. Trying to lessen the effects of torque twist by putting a majority of the necessary bulk to the front passenger side.

I fully understand that.

Less than an inch of a bonus with a lot more work.

Rebuilding the trans isn't so hard, a few screws and about 30mins

If you do that you change the Weight distribution of your truck.
