56 spur 12 pinion? i think that will be a good crawler especially on a 35t motor if you're running on 2s.. speed demon it won't be you're at a 4.7:1 gear ratio. Stocker Axial is 4:1 on a 27T motor.. higher number is slower truck BUT that's JUST the spur to pinion relationship. The transmission can change that but the tranny usually gives a gear ratio as well- should be in the paperwork it came with or on the website.. here's a quick read on gear ratios http://teamassociated.com/pdf/cars_a...ear_ratios.pdf |

per john holmes himslef...Axial AX10/ SCX10 Fun running: 35t – 27t TorqueMaster or 16t – 13t CrawlMaster Competition: 30t – 21t TorqueMaster or 14t – 11t Crawlmaster 5.5:1 spur to pinion ratio advised. eg 84 spur and 15 tooth pinion full blog here: http://www.holmeshobbies.com/blog/?page_id=400 |

I'm running a 56/13 with a HH 35T Torque Master right now and thinking of grabbing a 15 pinion to try out. The 56/13 combo is a great crawler, but lacks the wheel speed for clay/dirt situations. For trail running I think a 15 pinion would be better, more speed for varied conditions with good crawling capabilities. Will have to see if it runs the motor warm though.

For a 35T Torque Master, I would use a pinion in the range of 10 to 12 with 3S. I am running 56/12 in my Wraith and don't have any issues with heat. You would need to be careful going with a pinion bigger than 12 on 3S. If you want more speed then going with a lower turn motor like a 27T or go with a brushless system like a HH TrailMaster BL540 3100kv or a Tekin Roc412. |
