Made the fenderwells out of Cool Whip containers, got rid of the visor, and painted the outside of the body. Also had to put an extension piece on the top of the rear shock towers because the rear shocks were dropping so low, the rear driveshaft was binding at the output shafts of the trans. The pieces I used for the top of the shock towers came from my ridgecrest chassis, they hold the front part of the links to the chassis.

Your rig is coming along nicely. Looks better without the visor and painted on the outside for that matte finish look. The inner wheel wells are a great addition too. But the rear shock angle isn't doing ya any favors. If ya lean the tops forward the whole rear suspension will work alot better & smoother. |

Ya, I thought about that when I was putting it together, it hasn't been run yet, but I do need to change the angle forward, or at the very least make them straight.

Moved the tops of the rear shocks forward 3/8'' so now they're vertical, ordered ESC and receiver.

Installed a receiver & esc last night, and test ran it thru the living room. Man, those 32p gears are noisy, but since I don't have a gear cover, and no where to really attach one, they'll have to do.

32p gears might be alittle loud, but they will take beating. How did the rig do on its first test drive?

IT LIVES! Finally got Frankenstein out for it's maiden voyage. I wish I was co-ordinated enough to shoot pics or video with my phone while I ran the truck, but it didn't happen. It's probably won't surpass some of the rigs I've seen in these threads throughout RCCcrawler, but I'm very happy with it. It did, however, run, climb, and crawl better than my Dodge wroncho, and both chassis's are set up similarily in that the batteries are mounted in the rear. The only real difference is the wheelbase, Frankenstein is at 10.5", and the wroncho is 12.5", which can be a major plus for the panel, since it didn't hang up on obstacles that the longer wb Dodge did.

I've been out of the loop for a while and loving coming back reading these builds to actually see different rigs.. Loving the tires used on your build. Never been a fan of your body but they way you put it with the W/T combo I'm liking it..

These 2.2 Dirt Hawgs seem to give the truck a lot of stability without raising the center of gravity. I'm running them without foams, and each front wheel has 2 oz of weight. And even with the NiCd pack mounted in the rear, it's perfectly balanced, it doesn't flip over backward throttling up a steep grade, and doesn't tumble end over end going down a steep grade, unless I do something stupid.
