| Would a 4600KV motor work well in an SCX10?
I am currently saving for an SCX10 and after seeing some faster brushless motors being run in scalers I started wondering if I could use my old Mamba max with a 4600KV sensored brushless motor system I got years ago for my stadium truck I later cannibalized to build my first crawler. The motor is in excellent shape and I would just have to gut the ESC out of my old Cole82 Gopher tuber on TLT axles that is going to be shelved anyway. So, would a 4600KV motor work if I geared it down, or would it have too much speed and not enough torque? Also, if it has 3 wires from the ESC to the motor does that mean it's sensored. I'm pretty sure it is if I remember right but I wanted a way to be sure. Edit: Oh, and this isn't the Mamba max pro. This is the original mamba max ESC that is around 8 years old and the motor came with it. I believe it was when castle creations first started doing brushless for cars. 2nd Edit: I dug up the motor and found it is the old Castle Creations CM36s series of motors. I also found out that it is probably sensorless. Will a sensorless motor be alright? I also read that this is about the equivalent of a very good 12T motor. That sounds rather fast. I did read in the instructions that I can lower the timing of the motor which would reduce power consumption and top speed. I wonder if that would work if it is too fast even when geared down. Thats a sensorless motor and it will cog pretty bad trying to crawl with it...better off going with the newer mmp sensored esc and a good sensored brushless motor. I got a new 13.5 tekin redline on ebay for 50 bucks that works great...its sensored and matched up with a cc mmp sensored esc..there is the roc412 but its alot more expensive and i will have to save up for that one...

I'm currently running a 12v dewalt motor in my scx based bronco. On 3s its real good. Crawls good and has decent wheel speed. Also its under $20. My buddy has been running one for a while now and he's not afraid to get it wet. Its outlasted some much more expensive motors for him

imo brushless is too powerful for the scx10. if you had to go brushless i would think the best thing would be a 21.5 or higher or something between 1000kv to 3000kv. even 3000kv is going to be to powerful for the scx10.
