| Rob5059 Honcho build Well I had a set of built up AX10 axles and transmission kicking around on my bench that I was going to build a sporty with, but I really like my LNC so I never did anything with them. I pulled the XR mod off the front axle and found some SCX10 alum chubs, knuckles, and CVD. The next thing I needed was an SCX10 chassis, shocks, and to decide on a body. So I hit the RPP Salvage yard and picked up a SCX10 chassis and a set of Proline 95mm shocks, and found a good deal on eBay for a NIP Honcho body with cage. Now that I picked a body it was time to find some links and electronics. So I went digging through my parts bins and found a Hands Brothers CMS setup and 3-link rear kit, Tekin FXR with 35T, 7955 servo, and some aluminum links. For tires I will be running Axial 8 hole wheels with Mickey Thompson 1.9 Baja Claw TTC. I still have some work to do; I need to wire in the lights, install the Hands Brothers rear 3 link, and tune the suspension. I am running 30W oil in the shocks right now, but I think it needs some heaver oil. Last edited by rob5059; 10-14-2018 at 04:58 AM. |

looks good... should get 'er done. The battery size looks as if it might cause interference with tires when steering fully (lock 2 lock)... at least it would on mine. The other thing I don't get... is folk mounting their Hi-Lift on the hood ? I've seen it more then a few times... But it is the worst place one could mount one IMO. well... at least on a 1:1 rig. ^ unless the painted surface and sheet metal is of no concern. For a poly bodied crawler... can't really mar things up. But on a 1:1... there would be a good chance the sheet metal of the hood would get bent, due to the weight... and a few hard hits. (especially today's/current thin sheet/pot metal) Guess what I'm saying is... in my 1:1 off road experiences... Mounting the HL on the body's sheet metal surface... is not the best of ideas... JMO But if you like it... is all that matters I'll suppose |

| Re: Rob5059 Honcho build I have the battery mounted there on my G6. I raised the battery tray's leading edge about 1/4 inch off the frame to allow for total clearance through the steering range at full articulation.

I will need to check and see if the tires are hitting the battery. I am not sure if I am going to stay with the 5000mh batteries. I have a Wraith interior and it looks like I would need to chop it up quite a bit to use the big battery. I have a bunch of 1300ma 2 and 3 cells that should fit under the interior pretty good.

| Re: Rob5059 Honcho build Well the Honcho is under the knife again. It started off the I changed the SCX10 axles for a set of cast Yota axles; 3 link in the front with panhard, and 4 link in the rear. I kept the Hands Brothers servo mount and got a 3 link bracket for a Yota 2 axle. Then I got the rear cage by trading some parts. So I have been cleaning up the cage and making a bed and fuel cell. Had some time to finish off the fuel cell, and got everything painted and mounted. I have a new cab and I have not decided on a color, thinking of green or red. I have also ordered an assortment on Vanquish TI links.
