Default Is the Warn winch supposed to lock?

Just a quick question that I could not find an answer using search. I bought got a used JK that came with a Warn winch from RC4WD. It uses the wireless fob. If I hold the cable vertically the winch does lift the truck up but it will slide back down when I let go the button. Just wanted to know if this is normal. I have a friend in my group that has the same question. Same thing going on with his. Appreciate the help.

Yep, it's normal. The only way to get rid of most of that is to use an ESC for a winch controller that has drag brake.

purdy sure these don't have an auto drum brake like a 1:1 winch.

So my guess is... it is normal (in/out)
hold/brake is controlled by gear reduction.

dead lift is rated at 6.6 lbs.
rolling drag is rated at 9. lbs

curious as to how much your rig weighs ?

excluding the vertical dead lift...
does it back out when winching horizontally (normal duty) ?

I'll weigh it when I get home from work. I do have more things on mine which is why it goes down faster than my friends. Thanks for the help. Very much appreciated.
