Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build You have inspired me to make a baja style if I can find the parts. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Messing around on the computer at the moment. Trying to design and print a VW emblem for the hood on a 3D printer. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Nice work on the bug! I mounted a Pro-Line bug body made for the Slash on a scx10 last summer with 2.2's, it was pretty cool but had to trim the body quit a bit. I like yours better! "thumbsup" |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Added front body mounts using magnets. Seems to be pretty secure. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build I used these magnets from Lee Valley Tools. Drilling out the posts for a 3mm screw. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58428.jpg The magnet cups needed a hole too. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58431.jpg Here's all the bits and pieces. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58429.jpg Here's the magnet cups and disks. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58430.jpg The magnets are glued into the cups and the disks glued to the body. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58433.jpg Here's the crappy VW logo i made with my cheap 3D printer. A better one is on it's way. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58434.jpg Cheers eh, Todd |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Had a new emblem printed up at Shapeways. Looks a lot better than the one I printed at home. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58804.jpg Haven't had a chance to do much else. Between holidaze and getting back to work it's pretty busy around here. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Nice build. You got a real nice style in detail work. Nice to see, so many people loose that along the way with all the options for purchase. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Thank you sir. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Started on some inner fenders. Found that sour cream containers we pretty close to the right size. A bit of scissor work and some black paint and voila! I may put a bit of velcro on the top of them and inside the fender to hold them on place. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58906.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58907.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58908.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58909.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58910.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58911.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...3992-58912.jpg On to the back wheels next. Cheers eh, Todd |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Gotta question. Has anyone had any luck filling body holes in a lexan body? If so, what did you use? |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build I wanted to build for the sake of building. So I built my mom a dingo. Now she wants a bug body. Where did you get that she'll???? I've bought several trying to find a good match. No luck! Yours is beauti. I'm digging it! So I need to know the who what where when on that shell. BTW I've never body filler on lexan sorry I'm no help |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build This thread has inspired me, as well. I've ordered a bug body for my Trail Trekker since this 1:10 is so nice I can't compete. |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build I got the body at my local hobby shop. They only ever had two. I bought one and should'a bought the other but didn't. It's funny that they had the body and some other spares for this car but I never actually saw the whole car there. You can order it direct from here. Edit - no you can't - it's been discontinued. Cheers eh, Todd |

Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Well it's been a while since I've posted anything here. Went toy trucking with my 10 year old last night in the rain. Pretty happy with how the Bug handles but I took out the inner fenders as they were rubbing on the tires. Paint colour and shape make it blend into the rocks. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62413.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62412.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62411.jpg Bouncing along over the rocks. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62410.jpg Here's my son's rig. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62408.jpg |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Loving the Bug. The FC looks good in blue, too. #CamBrady2017 |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Finally got around to working on the bug again. Nothing major. I threw a bumper on the front. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62511.jpg And then I started messing around in Adobe Illustrator to draw up a dashboard for this thing. Here's draft #1. Going to make it out of a couple of layers of styrene with a printed speedometer. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62513.png |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Here's a paper mockup of the dash. Don't quite have the curve right at the top but the size is close. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62517.jpg |
Re: Dingo to Bug - First SCX10 build Been too nice out to sit at the bench so went out to play toy trucks. These were at the Blackfoot RC Park here in Calgary. Managed to break off both mirrors. I'll need to get some rubber ones. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62549.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62550.jpg http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4324-62551.jpg |
