Default Steering link to work with VP C.hubs and knuckles

I have stainless steel links (4 front and 4 rear) plus the same kind of links for my steering links.

However, I have just installed the Vanquish Products 8 degree C Hubs and Knuckles and now my steering link is too short.

I am wondering what people who have installed the VP 8 degree gear have done to get longer steering links? I see that VP makes a steering link set for exactly this but they are $27 plus $13 postage and I don't want to pay $40 for steering links, especially given that I have already done so for the stainless links.

I am wondering if installing the longer Traxxas Jato rod ends on my stainless links, rather than the Traxxas Revo rod ends, would work?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Longer ends may help. How much longer does it need to be? Point your tires straight forward and measure the distance between the knuckles from eye to eye. Then measure your current tie rod and subtract. You can add a nut between the rod end and link to add some length.

It needs to be about 14mm longer.
With the VP knuckles it is about 150mm from eye to eye.
Current tie rod is about 136mm eye to eye
Are the Jato rod ends likely to be 7mm longer than Revo rod ends? Coz that would get me the extra 14mm that I need.

Not sure how long the Jato ends are. You'll have to look them up. If not just make a new link its not hard to do. Harley has a great video on different methods.

^^^ I think thats what hes trying to avoid.

The jato rod ends are about 5mm longer than the revos.
You could do your own links out of steel rod. Personally, I bit the bullet and got the currie links in the end. The Ti is way stronger than anytning I could have made myself...
