| newbie scx-10 Rubicon rtr build
So I bought me a Axial SCX-10 Rubicon rtr last year I love it. I did upgrade to JunFac steel drive shafts, Axial aluminum links, Gcm cms and moved the battery up front. Last fall I was taking it though the trails at a friends farm and I happened to break my c-hub. Now I wanna redo the whole thing. Plans- Aluminum c-hubs and knuckles Front axle shafts Axial HD gears (don't know what ratio) Aluminum straight shafts New high turque waterproof servo(wanting something to turn 2.2s with ease) Axial ax-5 esc Axial 55t motor maybe something different Pro line 80s Chevy body(orange and titanium silver) 1.9 wheels(not sure what) 1.9 iroks or bloggers 2.2 wheels 2.2 tires New cms and panhard Custom bumpers Winch Any input on parts that are the best will help. Thanks in advance |

I just installed the new SSD CMS kit it comes with all the hardware, works and looks great. I have the Axial HD overdrive/underdrive gears, they really help in steep climbs and turns. I also went with STRC hubs, knuckles and lockouts. All were good but the lockouts there was a ton of play. Wound up getting some plastic washers at Lowes to take up the gap between the lockout and bearing. Probably gonna swap out for Vanquish stage 1 when available again to gain some extra steering. Enjoy the rebuild |

Im gonna try out the H-King HK15298B, HH BRXL esc. I didn't find the crawlmaster in 45t. My budget is kinda cheap right now. But on the servo motor and esc I would like to buy them once. Ive already replace the motor twice and servo 5 times. I'm really wantin to upgrade to aluminum hubs, c-hubs and lockouts. Which ones can I get that help with the turning radius?

I know it's not up to par for some of there people but for $23 can't beat it, with over 400oz of torque. Not WP but it hasn't had any problems for me. http://www.hobbypartz.com/33p-solarservo-d772.html |

Thanks. I'll look again on hh. They never got hot while running them. I always cleaned them out with keyboard air cleaner and spray them with wd40. I did waterproof the stock ESC and I love it. I'm just looking to try new products

| Re: newbie scx-10 Rubicon rtr build I don't recommend wd40 for motors as it tends to soak into the brushes & cause issues. It's actually not technically a lubricant. What I do post-bath & after blow-drying (no or low-heat) or vacuuming is run the motor for a few seconds to get any remaining water off the rotor & then use air on it again. Lastly I use a tiny bit of medium-weight oil on the bushings; anything too thin risks seeping onto the comm & getting into the brushes.

Can motors be damaged from clean water? Like if I run through creeks (clean) constantly, or drive in clean snow?

No. Shouldn't be a problem.

Clean water should be fine considering some people break in their motors brushes/commutator in water Sent from the clouds |
