Default question about HH TM pro 35t

Hello,
So I got the motor in setup with the sv3 esc. All is good, but their are a few things Im unsure about. First the motor ticks alittle, It has the forward speed, but reverse is slower. My radio throttle is set to normal, when I first plugged in the rig it went in reverse so I switched the black and red wire on the esc and its correct but reverse is still slower than forward, Is this normal on the HH motors? I had the same speed forward and reverse with my rc4wd 35t?
input please Thanks

It's the motor timing. Contact Holmes and they can assist you in setting it you may be able to change your rx rtr setting to reverse and then it will be faster in forward

If the motor has any mechanical timing advance it will be a little slower in reverse. I can't say for sure on that particular motor, but slower in reverse is normal on a lot of motors.

I own several of these motors and the one you have has the timing advanced..6 degrees is popular and helps the performance while still giving good brush life...there are marks on the case and end bell to set different degrees of advance or to go back to zero which would make forward and reverse the same speed. I prefer the advance of 6 degrees...

Ok, so advance the timing on the motor to 6 degrees, not though my castle link?

Sure, you can do that...i prefer a mechanical advance over a software advance any day lol

If I recall correctly, each hash mark is 6 degrees...some run more than 6 but I have found 6 to be the sweet spot..

One side of the motor housing has a 0 on it...the other does not..

you want forwards a little faster than reverse. The brushes will wear a lot longer and you will have better efficiency. One hash mark is 12 degrees. We typically mail motors with 6 degrees timing when the rig type is given to us. Motors sent to hobby shops and other retail outlets have zero timing.

anywhere from 6 to 18 degrees is just fine, and all motors should have some timing advance when possible. I typically run all motors at 12 and deal with the softer reverse power.

After break in, i always advance mine by ear. i take the unmounted motor and adjust it till i can hear the rpms stop increasing. After that i back it off a hair and call it good! seems to work for me anyway. you get a slower reverse but loads of power going foward.
