| NorCals Wraith Caged SCX10 Build
After attending Axialfest a couple of weeks back, I decided it was time for another 1.9 build. The scx slider has been on the shelf for about 2 years and the wraith cage was from my original wraith build. Did a bunch of reading and decided to jump in. No plan really, just going for it. Mounting the cage is the first part of this build. The cage either has to swing up and out of the way or be completely removable. Last edited by NorCal 2500HD; 08-22-2015 at 10:40 PM. |

I wanted to start on mounting the rear of the cage first. After getting the mounting position figured out, I fired up solidworks and got the printer preheated....A few minutes later I came up with brace/clip combo. The clip captures the cage perfect. The holes were supposed to be for zip ties but small piece of strip velcro works much better. I am not worried about how the parts look right off the bat, these are test pieces, fast and dirty. Same for the part design as well. i will refine everything once I know it all works. |

I had to grind out some of the cage for it to sit level. No big deal really, I just didnt want this to look like a rig with a 5" body lift... |

Now that the rear is Solid, Im moving forward on the frame to the sides. I wanted lots of room for the cage to be able to swing up and out of the way so I clipped the front corners off. Like I said, No plan, just going for it. I thought I was screwed at this point., I lucked out though....After staring at this for about 30 minutes, I figured it out. Happy Accident is what im going to call it. There may be a few of these.. I came up with some standoffs. They use the link and transmission mounting holes and 8 longer screws. The mount also captures the front of what I thought was a big mistake. Last edited by THX_138; 08-04-2015 at 11:14 PM. |
