Default Axial wheel wells?

Hey guys, I noticed several months ago Axial announced that they would be selling lexan wheel wells for the SCX10.

Looking at them now, Axial does not seem to provide any information where or when they will be released.

Does anyone have any information on this? Can I preorder them from Axial's website?

Here is the link.

Axial Racing - SCX10 Wheel Wells - .040" (Clear)

They're already on the streets, but probably in short supply as it seems they're out of stock. You can backorder them through Tower or put yourself on the notify list, could probably do the same at other on-line retailers.

Or you could save yourself the $28 + shipping and make your own out of Cool Whip or Ziplock containers.

I have looked into it. Have you been able to find a guide for that though?

I can't seem to find anything.

Here is a link to the post (#35) in my buildup where I made a set of front inners and then further down I made a set of rears for my Deadbolt from Cool Whip containers.

Start of a new Deadbolt project. Lets call it Project: Cheapbolt

Hope it is of some help.

Thanks! How did you attack the wheel wells to the frame? It looked like zip ties in the picture but I couldn't tell.

Nice build btw!

Thanks. Yeah I used zip ties to hold them on. if I ever redo them I am going to go with these type of wire mounts

and mount them to the hoops with those clamps for a cleaner look. Though the zip ties have held up quite well.

On what did you wrap the zip ties around? The body posts?

Sorry about all of the questions, I am considering doing this today.

I wrapped it around the shock tower hoop on front and back ( both hoop uprights). I took a quick picture of how it mounts since pics speak better than words sometimes. Hope it helps.

When I did mine, I cut a container in half, checked it for fit with the shocks off because I run the top shock screw through the container, but I make it long enough to also get screwed to the chassis. Once fitted, take it back off for paint. I also cut the lip of the container off so it fits snugly against the body.

Why buy them for more than a $1 when you can buy 2 tupperware for a $1 at the dollar store.

Just going to drop this here. Lunch meat containers, screwed to the shock tower with the shock bolt and one other bolt on the shock tower. Same way Mike Flea said, cut in half, line up and make holes, trim and paint flat black on both sides.

Rear wheel wells (left side in pic) are cut to clear body, sits snug with the bed and you couldn't see past them.

Go grab some styrene, and they will actually fit the body too. This rig has been my first attempt with styrene, so if I can do it, anyone can

With the body on, the fender wells fit perfectly around the wheel wells, tight against the body.

Just finished them this morning and took them out today and they look great!

I ended up going to my local Microcenter and purchasing some CD containers that I then cut to match my Jeep's wheel wells. I also just used one screw to mount them to the chassis. The hole was already there near at the top of the shock tower (next to the body post).

Here is how they turned out! My only regret is that I cut the width a little too short, at some angles you can still see the white interior of my Jeep.

Otherwise though, I think they turned out really well. Thanks everyone for the help!
