What kind of motor would you guys recommend for a scx10 on stock gearing? Mostly for trail use. II will be using 2s lipo.. I was thinking maybe HH torque master sport 35t?

They're not bad. Better than non rebuildable. 35 turn is a good choice. Having collected a gang of 35 turn motors I can confidently say there aren't huge differences between them. I dynoed em all and while the numbers did vary, it wasn't dramatic.

The integy motor is good for budget minded projects or if your gonna be in mud and water loads. On another note hh has a 30t for 25 I got 2 of them very happy with both and performance is better than axial silver can.

I've been running the rc4wd 45t on 2s. We hit a lot of water/sand each week, and it's cheap, but gets the job done.

I've got the hackmoto v2 35t in my sons scx10 and it has surprisingly good speed on 2 s. Wasn't expensive either. I think I paid around $20 on eBay or rcmart.com has them too.

A 27-35T will do the trick for a good balance between speed and crawl. Any more turns on the motor and you loose out on those short bursts of speed when you need to get over something and a slow crawl just won't do it.

It's not a dramatic difference on the dyno between 21g and 20.5g wire, but you can feel the difference driving. If a bit better quality wasn't noticeable we wouldn't have gotten past lathe motors to begin with. I would like to think that there is a wide variety of brushed motor options because they are all have a good place within the budget.

The old integy matrix motors were decent, back when they used epic. The new cheap ones are barely a notch above stock sealed cans. On the topic of less expensive options, we have just gotten TrailMaster Sport motors back in. We sprung for stronger magnets, better brush compound, and a bearing on the pinion side to wake them up compared to stock sealed cans.

I forgot to mention that the service and customer support with Holmes Hobbies is outstanding. I just bought a torque master and it had a hung brush I had never had that happen I emailed, and got a response within an hour of how to fix my issue. The next day I got a follow up email to make sure all was well. This is how life time customers come about. Thanks for making the hobby fun.
