| SCX10 Trans mirror/flip not going back together
Picked up a RTR CRC edition JK; it's fun, and I'm surprised how well it handles right out of the box. Not that torque twist is much of an issue, but I decided to mirror and flip the trans to try and improve performance a bit. I got it all done, and the trans won't sit flush on the skid plate because the stock motor is too long and hits the nut holding the passenger front link to the frame. Is that common? It seems if I used a shorter motor (like an Integy lathe motor, etc) it would be fine. Any ideas besides buying a new motor? |

It's common. Can you flip the screw and put the nut on the outside?

Possibly. The shaft of the screw clears the motor can by a hair, but not quite enough room for the nut. I'll check that out tonight after work.

When I mirror the trans, do I also want to rotate the skid plate 180, or leave it in it's factory configuration?

Rotate the skid so the motor stays in front.

Good call, thanks nate! I flipped that screw around and that worked for now. If I find there is a noticable improvment tomorrow, i'll keep it this way and order the nuts and screws. |

Update: Flipping that screw around did the trick. Yeah, it's more of a hassle getting things back together, but it works; thanks for the tip! Regarding performance, it didn't seem to do much so far. I guess it did help some, but not enough to outweigh removing the gear cover. I'll give it a couple more runs and see. |

You're welcome and it was noticeable for me, removing gear cover is not done that often and sometimes I leave the one pita screw out of the cover.
