Default Steel Transmission Gears

Are not bullet proof. Atleast the stock steel axial drive gear isn't. So if you buy upgraded steel gears don't skip this one. Even though the failure was probably caused by the stripping of the trans case mounting holes causing the case to flex and put uneven pressure on the gear mesh, if it was hardened steel like the rest it might have bound up and survived. Luckily i have the drive gears from the hardened sets, now i just have to true up the splines on the other gears and unwedge the chunks out from inbetween.

Three motors, check. One metal tranny gear, check. One spur, check. What will your backyard course eat next?

Super shafty transmission! Or hot racing / vanquish housing fast eddy bearings and hot racing steel hear set 3 pice. Assemble put 30 wt motor oil run with power drill till gears break in drain oil add grease. Go tear it up.

Cast is still way stronger than plastic but yes still junk. Have a Hot Racing aluminum housing on its way, old bearings are still good, and my hot racing hardened gears werent hurt much so ima true them up and put em back i with the hardened drive gear and throw a bunch of grease back in. I cleaned it up so you could see the splines but it was a well greased transmission.

Hot racing for me, I shredded my plastic ones in 3 packs with my brushless set up. And yes, I still had slipper action as it wasn't locked down.

I have a full HR set in there now with a HR aluminum housing, that was the stock metal axial gear, I blew up 2 plastic idlers in 15 minutes when I had plastic. Once you go 3S you just about need metal unless your not doing anything that requires bursts of throttle.
