| Wraith Steel Transmission Gears
I blew out the 2 plastic transmission gears in my RTR wraith trans. I've found plastic replacements from Axial, but it seems I'd be better off with steel upgrades. I'm a bit of a newb with the R/C's so I'm having trouble finding the exact gear I need, I know Robinson makes a good gear just unsure exactly what to order. Thanks for any help. |

I use Robinson and HR, they are both a great upgrade. Rpp has some HR's: Hot Racing Axial SCX10 AX10 Wraith hard steel center gears set |

Yup, what Norton said^^^^. I use the Robinson Racing P/N 1551 idler and 1552 bottom gears. You don't need to replace the top one being that it is already steel from the factory. If you feel the need to replace all of them HR and Axial makes all 3 replacement metal gears. I'm also not a big fan of the 1pc bottom gear also, if you happen to snap the outputs you're screwed and have to buy the whole assembly. Stay away from the anodized hardened aluminum gears, from my experience they didn't last very long maybe 8 months for me. When they started to sound louder like a timing gear drive in a v8, I opened the transmission case and found the teeth on the gears were rounded and worn down. I use Redline synthetic red grease so I know it wasn't poor lubricant, just not a great material. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll just replace the idler/bottom gear with the Robinson ones listed since the other one is already steel like you say. Didn't take very long to strip those stock plastic gears out after I geared it lower so this should do the trick. |

I don't trust that top gear, and I like all 3 to match, so I have always used the steel Hot Racing gears. They are great quality and at $30 for all 3 gears it's a good deal.
