Default Front pinion angle

Hi I'm trying to figure out why my pinion angle is a mess,I bought the truck from a friend,so I don't know too much about this one.
But ,as you can see that angle is wrong it measures 12.25 from axle pin,to pin.
But maybe it's a 12" wb truck with the wrong links on it?
Any ideas,would be excellent, thanks.

Not sure how it ended up being like that, are those scratch built links? Basically to fix this you'll either have to shorten the lower links or lengthen the upper links. Keep in mind that shortening your lower links will shorten your wheelbase as well

awesome answer.. do one of the above suggestion, then you'll fix your problem

the best one may be lengthen your upper links by 5 or 10 mm is enough

If you have any rod ends, you could change out a side on the upper links.

I believe that's backwards.
Shortening the lower OR lengthening the upper will only add to the issue, remember the trans outputs and pinion input's should be parallel.

Those links are externally threaded, and I can not shorten them, and I think lengthening them could push the axle forward, idk if dumbass ordered the 12.3 links, when he should have ordered 12"

No, the other poster is correct. Lengthen the upper links some to get the angle better. The pinion should angle up slightly use the c-hub as a guide, you dont want the top of the c-hub pointed forward more than the bottom. Right now it is pointed rearward a lot. I always try to keep it close to the same so that if you drew a line thru the knuckle mounts of the c-hub it would be straight up and down or have a slight tilt to the rear.

Swap the lower and upper links around...see what that does for the angle

This is very true for the front, not so much for the rear (which is what I focused on, my bad!)

Anyway, the the input and output of any drive shaft SHOULD be at equal angles, other wise an acceleration and deceleration is created during rotation which will cause a "surging" in the drive train. Is it a big deal on our trucks, probably not.

The other benefit to the pinions tilting upwards is less damage from rocks and such, the links help protect the pinion...i have all mine set up this way front and rear...on these little trucks, surging is a non issue....

Those look like traxxas rod ends, you could browse your local hobby shop for the longer version rod end that same thread size and experiment with making the upper links longer.

It's also super easy to make your own. Get some 3mm all thread and stainless steel brake line with a 3mm inside diameter, cut them to whatever length your heart desires and screw the ends on the all thread (that's run through the brake line). Ok after saying all that maybe it's not super easy. But you can get the exact length you want and it's really rewarding in the end!
