Lots of people are having issues with the AE-5. It doesn't seem to be a reliable ESC. If you contact Axial they should replace it, but buy a HobbyWing WP1060 to replace the AE-5. If you want more adjustability get the WP1080.

I must be one of the lucky ones...I run AE-5's exclusively in my 5 of my 6 brushed crawlers...never had a single issue with them..

Me neither, but I only put about 5 battery packs through mine before replacing it with a brushless system. I have just read a ton of failures with that ESC both on here and Facebook.

replace with quicrun 1060 or upgrade with the 1080 (newest one, with internal BEC for 6 & 7.4V)

Probably a stupid question, but does the hobbywing 1060 have a drag brake? I couldn't find anything in the online user manual about a drag brake or its adjustment.

I've had my ae-5 for almost a a year now. have ran at least ten packs threw it and it is still running strong. Thats despite the fact that at my first attempt to waterproof my rig I overheated the AE-5 and it stopped working till it cooled down. I am still running all stock electronics execpt for my motor It's a Holmes Hobbies trailmaster.
