| Building a scx10 from a used frame
So I was talking to a buddy about wanting to make a crawler and said a had an old frame he never finished and just gave it to me. So now, what to do with it, I know this will be a project and I don't plan on dumping a ton of money into it. Ill spend the money where I need to. But I've never used a scx10 and know nothing about it. I bought a pair of used wraith axles and used tires. So now what else do I need to focus on? What are the weak point and what upgrades will get me best bang for the buck. Oh and obviously i will need a motor and esc, but I'll do that last. Few pics ...... |

If it was mine, I would start taking it apart and check for wear and re-grease, Mostly axel's and tranny. And you are missing the back driveshaft :(

Any pieces I should just go ahead and replace while I have it apart. I just picked up a ae5 esc And some no name 550 motor I'll swap out for something else. | |

Check your upper front link lengths. It appears your castor is leaning the wrong way. It may be the C hubs are just clocked wrong are placed on the wrong side. Also, those are scx/ax axles, not wraith.

I doubt your positive caster has anything to do with the link(s) The front driveshaft angle, tho' likely at it's max. looks to be about how they should be when the shocks are at full extension. Is it possible the Chubs were placed on the wrong sides ? And are creating the positive caster effect ? The S. spindle(s) are likely on the correct sides just not the Chubs. The negative caster at the spindles (kingpins) even at max shock extension should be minimally nearer to vertical. Ideally some negative caster is wanted (kingpin uppers leaning rearward slightly) and will offer better steering if some negative caster exists. The stock plastic Chubs/S spindles do have neg. caster limitations especially when the shocks are extended fully. May not be able to attain much, if any, negative caster using the original plastic C. hubs/S. knuckles. Is one of the reasons many folk upgrade to alloy Chubs/S knuckles. Preferably the ones that offer more negative caster capability Switch those C. Hubs L-R and see if there's any improvement in caster. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 12-14-2016 at 08:56 PM. |

Download this as a reference: http://docs.axialracing.com/instruct..._Wagon_RTR.pdf I'm parting one together after several years of playing with bits and pieces from my Wroncho. The only original pieces from my Honcho are the skid, body mounts, and body. All the other parts have been used elsewhere. |
