Default ESC/Motor combo for crawling

So I already have a EzRun WP SC8 ESC laying around not being used and figured id use that in my new build for crawling. Any recommendation for a brushless motor that would match?

That ESC won't be ideal for crawling because it's not sensored.

I was wondering that :( Seems like such a waste to let it sit in a box. But I guess its back on the shelf it goes.

Save it for one of your go-fast rigs.

according to the manual, it only has 30% drag brake max....not a lot for a crawler..

Ok I'll keep looking, budget is tight. How did that motor look?

Both of your links are to the same ESC.

Do you need brushless for your crawler? If not you get can a good, brushed setup for under $100.

what combo is that. Im on the fence with brushless/sensored vs brushed. Not sure if it matters but all I have for batteries are 3s

HobbyWing WP1080 ESC: HOBBYWING North America — QUICRUN WP 1080 Brushed ESC for Rock Crawler
Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster motor: CrawlMaster Expert 540 - CrawlMaster Series - Brushed Motors - Motors

3S batteries are good. You'll never run out of power and you can adjust your gearing for your desired speed and still have torque.

this is almost my other option if I don't go brushless. I don't know why im stuck on brushless just so use to the push of going brushless on other trucks I cant get it outa my head.

One thing, why the crawl master 13t, I was looking at the torquemaster expect 30t for wheel speed?

the crawl master 13t is the same as the torque master 27t but the crawl master has better low end resolution. I have the crawl master 13t in my tundra scx10, and its terrific at slow technical crawling and also has excellent wheel speed when needed...the drag brake is slightly less on it than the 27t torque master but not enough to matter to me.

I also have ran the 27t, 30t, and 35t torque master motors and they are very good as well. any of them will be a good choice, for me...the 13t crawl master is my go to for dedicated crawling and light trailing, the 30t torque master is my go to for moderate trailing and light crawling and the roc 412 3100kv is for everything but running in water lol and I run everything on 3s

Brushless is nice. It's more efficient and powerful. But at the same I like cheap brushed systems. I can dunk them in mud and water and not worry about ruining expensive systems.

that motor is only a 2 pole, while its not bad, you can get a 4 pole brushless that would have better low end resolution..but they will be more expensive. Team Brood has a new line of brushless motors out, one of them is a 4 pole for 99.00...looks pretty good for the price...
