OH MAN! I was THIS close to choosing that color for mine. I went with a gun metal instead. Boy am I glad to made that choice! Nobody likes a kit version with the RTR color. Whew. It's interesting that the RTR gets the nice detailed grille as well. I would have thought the RTR would get the traditional sticker grille. And METAL links? Man, this will either be really expensive, or they must have really cut corners elsewhere to get the cost down. EDIT - they come with really puny metal links lol Last edited by 1967Typhoon; 07-13-2016 at 10:13 AM. |

Really puny steel that is stronger than the kit aluminum links and puts good weight down low. It also slides way better and will stand up to abrasion better. AX10 trans too. I'm thinking they did better with the RTR.

I gotta say, Axial made this RTR pretty darn solid. Other than the less soft tires, the plastic bodies shocks, and the links it's pretty darn close to the kit. Kudos! Last edited by THX_138; 08-01-2016 at 10:36 PM. | |

This RTR looks pretty damn impressive compared to the version it replaces. I may have to pick up one of these (too many builds and not enough time for a kit). Really impressive they kept the universals on the RTR, seems like all the performance features of the new version were kept in place. I would have love to seen them throw in some cast steel gears in the trans but we all need something to complain about. |

Yeah, as long as those new links are dependable, only the trans gears and servo really need upgrading to have a pretty solid rig.

It'll be interesting to see if they manage to get one down to the price point of the deadbolt and what they have to cut to do it. It'll be tough to cut down more than $100 without losing some of the performance features. Probably those universals will have to go and maybe those steel links. They already had to go for plastic shock bodies even at $409!

Wow! Only $60 more than the kit version for the RTR as noted on the Axial website. Good value!!! |

| Re: SCX10 II RTR's? Yes it does! I wonder if that's a typo? The steering links in the pictures look to be the same as the steel suspension links and definitely are not the same as the anodized aluminum links that come with the kit.

Am I correct that the only differences between the RTR and the Kit are the links, trans and shocks?
