Default Shorter spring suggestions?

Hey guys, I want my SCX10 II to sit just a bit lower than stock. Even loaded down with gear and with the preload collars all the way up I feel this pig is just a bit too high. Is there a shorter spring option out there that will allow me to get a bit lower? I don't want to buy a whole new shock set if I can avoid it.

If I did buy new shocks I would likely go with something that would allow for a droop setup.

Thanks for any input! Double-thanks for part numbers!

running gmades with droop here.
Can you just buy some lighter springs (Lowes/home depot) and set-up those with droop?

Maybe you could fab some limit straps.

Two-stage OG SCX10 shock springs come in two lengths, the shorter uppers and longer lowers, both in several different spring rates. IIRC the current SCX10 II (aka Deadbolt SCX10) single stage shock springs come in more than one rate, a lower rate would allow it to ride lower and still have good up and down suspension travel.

Hmmmm. Maybe I will do the internal spring/droop setup. I am replacing the kit pistons with the machined ones anyway (stock ones took a LOT of sanding, still stick quite a bit) so I might as well try my hand at droop while I'm in there. I will look into that. I remember guys running mini-t springs inside the shocks. I will poke around.

I don't want limiters as those would limit down travel too much. I have it set up with about a tire height of flex overall, and that seems to perform great. I just want my rig riding about 1/4 inch lower at rest.

Thanks for the ideas and input!

Internal spring is possible, I just meant there are other length and rate springs for the stock shocks available from Axial. I prefer not running internal or all droop setups.

Here's a list I compiled. Looked it up the SCX10 II: Yellow is 12.5x60mm at 2.63 ilb/inch and White is 12.5x60mm at 1.13 lbs/inch.

Listed is the Diameter x Length.
Then the Color code, Pounds/Inch and part number

Axial Deadbolt 12.5x60mm
Grey (stock)2.63 AX31145

12.5x40mm
Red 2.7 AX30205
White 3.6 AX30206
Green 4.08 AX30208
Yellow 5.44 AX30208
Blue 6.81 AX30209

12.5x20mm
Red 3.6 AX30200
White 4.32 AX30201
Green 5.44 AX30202
Yellow 6.53 AX30203
Blue 7.95 AX30204

Boom! 40mm should help! Tempted to buy a pair of each rate and be done with it.

Thanks for the part numbers!

I put 2660 Traxxas Big bores on mine, with Mini-t front medium springs out back, and Mini-t rear medium springs up front using trimmed 10-32 x 1/2" well nuts as lower spring cups. They lowered the truck by around 1/4".

I did have to make a 4mm shorter panhard bar to recenter the front axle though

It looks like they released some softer springs just recently (july 27th). AXI31444 is the number.

I am going to try those in the back, and move the back springs up to the front. I hope that the softer springs and the nicer machined pistons will help me consistently sit more low.

If that doesn't work, I'm totally going for the 40mm springs.
