Default Diff gear death

I know two of the guys that I run with that are having issues with the gears. Is anyone having issues with this if so how did you fix it? I have a new kit and have not assembled it yet. I don't know if it's already been talked about and maybe I just can't find it

there's a difference between 'diff gear death' and 'guys having issues with the gears'.
What issues are they having, how were they running it (huge motor on 6s or 27t on 2s)? Can't say much otherwise.
I've not read about anyone having issues with the gears in the diffs so far, and have no problems myself.

Slipping teeth inside the differential. Which is inherently bad for any ring and pinion gear setup

I think it was one of the Holmes videos talking about people have cracked and split the spools. A broken spool that allows the driveshaft tangs to rotate would feel a lot like a slipping gear.

They will click and bind when the drive shaft is not installed. The shaft has very little tolerance against the pinion bearing so it pulls the pinion out and prevents misalignment of the gear teeth. Without the drive shaft installed the diffs will click when turned by hand.

This was while driving with all shafts installed 30 degree slope. I have already built a few of these trucks. I just haven't built mine. The last one I built

I will be following this as I have one that I acquired due to damaged diff gears. It was a 3s/Pro4 setup though.....

I have found it to be a bit of a PITA to do, the sharpie does not like writing on the tires. At least that was my experience. ANd it don't stay on very long.
It looks cool for some photos ,for a minuet.

Always stand my Sharpie with the felt end down about 10 or 15 minutes before I use it

This is from "bilinvic" build thread;

Re: bilinvic's SCX10 II
One important note...make sure you shim the pinion output shafts between the exterior diff housing bearing and the driveshaft...the mesh can really get rough if the pinion is allowed to slide in a bit.

bilinvic's SCX10 II

I hope it helps.

I did not experience any play or bind in mine once drive shaft is installed. There is no room at all for a shim between my pinion and drive line. Without drive line installed i can force the pinion in and feel the pinion grab the locker but feels perfect otherewise. -Just my experience...

Well i just added the shim to mine. The other truck i built has come home for a while. I'm going to tear into it and see if there's any deer damage and then shim it also.
