Default Xtra speed complete transmission.

I just got this guy in the mail! I have already pulled it apart and it is very nicely made, but I'm not gonna leave it stock. I have a Vanquish top shaft, Boom Racing pineapple gearset and TRB ABEC 3 bearings on the way. I am going to use the stock spur as I am wanting to keep it quiet. The gears that it came with are super nice, it was butter smooth out of the box. The top shaft has the same in and out play that the stock has, will see if the Vanquish takes care of it. I will post some pics in a bit, didn't have time to yesterday when I dug in.

Where did you find that? Perfect to get my 10.2 back on the trash after I steal the tranny for my toyzuki

AMain has them, but for a premium. Couldn't wait for Gina to get them back in stock.

I think that was supposed to read china...rcmart. all I need are the gears to put in my original kit for when I take them out for my toyzuki build. Thanks for the pics. Are you interested in selling your xtra speed guts from the tranny?

I ordered one off the bay last week From: ( i2b503rc )
The Co. is ( KYX ) That made the one I bought.
Shenzhen Keyuxiang Model Technology Co., Ltd. is located in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China.
It Looks identical to the Xtra speed one, Probably the same casting more then likely.
It is listed as in having all axial gears.
I paid $129.99 for it.

The Xtra Speed one on Amain is currently at $119.99 for the black one and the silver one is $129.99.

Interesting. Glad you have have Boom's pineapple gearset to put in there with better bearings. For that price, they should be letting you know at least what abec rating you are getting on the bearings...

Removed inner seals off of bearings in main case and hit them with some Sin bearing lube. Test fit the Vanquish upper shaft and still have some play. Nothing a .5mm shim won't fix. Hoping that the gears and 5x10 bearings will be here tomorrow so I can button up.

Sweet looking, but it also appears to be really heavy.

I will weigh it next to the stock once it's complete. Stock it was 263 grams. But just the spur is 40 grams and I am going to stick with the stock for noise reduction.

Mostly together. The tolerances are nice and tight on the whole setup. I can't wait to break the gears in, the drill trick didn't even begin to do the job. Gears are super hard.

Install was flawless. I really love the look of the big ol silver tranny! Some before and after. I will not get to drive until tomorrow, I will update on the noise comparison.

That does look really nice, but it will also add some weight up high. With my toyzuki parts in the mail, I won't have to worry about being drawn to the shiney.

Did the Boom gears improve the in-out play of the top shaft? There is a theory that this is related o the way the main gear is mounted on the shaft (gear retaining pin too deep)

So the play that I noticed was the space between the bearing and the pin for the gear. The fit of the gear onto the bearing was almost a press fit so when all the way on it pushed the bearing all the way against the stop and held it there. With the stock gears and the Xtra Speed gears that this came with, the gear slid over the pin easily and the shaft was allowed to move back and forth in the gap between the bearing and pin. If you use a shim between the bearing stop on the shaft and the bearing, that would eliminate the play. I will take a pic in a bit to help explain what I'm talking about.

Did you remember to weight it before you installed it?

It was 228 grams. I used the stock spur, pads and plates. I will weigh the stock in a bit, ran out of time yesterday.
