Default Traxxas hex hubs on scx10ii

I was down at my LHS the other day picking up parts and got to talking with one of the employees about my rig. I was telling him how much the hyrax tires and brass front knuckles have helped the crawling ability but that I have some tipping issues at times.

He suggested that I put the traxxas hexes on since they come off the axle a little further than the stock axial ones. I took his advice and and there was indeed quite a noticeable difference. I can’t use the hex covers any longer since they don’t have any axle thread to grab, and I was told to check the wheel nuts to make sure they stay tight.

I’m wondering if this is a common practice and if anyone has experience, good or bad, with doing this.
