That Panhard bar has a hump in it to clear the pumpkin on the axle.

I am no expert on geometry but steering link and panhhardbar should have same length also they should be leveled and they clearly are not in the picture. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

Oh and the bar itself does not need to be parallel, it may be offset. The Vectors however should be. Last edited by Ditchrat; 04-26-2018 at 07:09 AM.

Informative thread. One of the things that bug me about panhard bars... or at least the way they've been implemented on R/Cs is the more than ideal axle shift under compression.

One of the drawbacks of 1/10 scale vehicles using far more than 1/10 scale suspension movement.

I'm guessing the sideways movement of the axle doesn't have a big impact on performance out on the trail. Is axle shift compensated for on 1:1s or is it accepted because there's less movement? |

In your head picture a right triangle. The compress to short end. With the opposite end fixed the only room for movement is toward the open end. The geometry is that of a right angles, but it is the vectors angles that matter not the physical angle. Its dificult to explain verbally but anyone who has crushed a box would get it.

If the panhard and drag link are not the same length you will have bump steer. Because they lengthened the panhard you will have bumpsteer with this setup. However they reduced axle sway due to its longer length. Only way to lengthen the drag link to match would be a steering box mounted to the outside of the frame rail. |

I will not say I have much knowledge of vehicle suspension, but this is definitely one of the setup issues I've encountered during my 1.9 Wraith build and have started considering. Bump steer is very minimal throughout my suspension travel to the point I don't even consider it an issue currently, however the mounting positions of the track/panhard bar are causing the situations shown above. I found this to be another helpful site in comprehending the issue: Genuine Bullet Proof Steering Geometry Basics . I think the addition of the "ride zone" on those pictures made sense because your rig isn't always going to be at full travel nor full bump, although we aren't really concerned with "road manners" for the RCs.

What I don’t understand about the 2 pictures showing the difference in side movement of the axle. Ride height are NOT the same on them. The one with standard panhardbar sits higher then the one with this “upgraded” panhardbar and mount. So to run it you must limit you shock travel? Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |
