| Realistic Headlights
Does anybody know how to make the LED headlights in the Cherokee & Jeep CRC look realistic? I don’t like the bright dot in the middle look... Thanks for your help! |

Knight Customs has halo lens inserts if you want to go that route. They also have regular lenses that are more realistic than the stock lexan ones on the JK. Onetoomanyrcs has a headlight kit for the Cherokee that looks pretty good.

Paint the bucket with mirror/chrome paint. Paint the tip of the led bulb with it as well.

You need diffusion. You get that from the lens and the bucket. Molotow liquid chrome markers are excellent for "painting" light buckets to get maximum reflection. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Molotow-Liq...d/132683173079 I've never thought of this before, but you could try clouding the lens a bit to get a softer, more dispersed look. Also, some LEDs are better at dispersion than others. If you want the old school, halogen look checkout Tamiya's halogen-like headlight LEDs. https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/optio...iya-led-light/ |

i used warm white leds I got from an ebay seller, they look great. the scout has tamiya chrome light buckets and the 6X6 has the stock wraith black light buckets with no silver paint inside...stock black inside and they look great...really look like old school head lights. |

Thank you for all the replies and great ideas! I already had the light buckets chromed out with the silver metallic sharpie. I tried covering the end of the LED with the same colour to help defuse the light, however it still has the dot in the middle look. I think the light buckets in this body or just a little too large for the amount of light given off by the LEDs. May need some way to cloud the lens... Back to the drawing board! |

The wide angle warm white leds will not have the look that your getting now...they will fill the entire bucket with light and give you the look you want

Take the 5mm leds you have now and grind the round part flat no need to clean it back up. you can use some medium grit sand paper and do it on the table I find this disperses the beam alot more. Pretty sure this is what i did when i had my old jeep body.

I have flat top or straw hat style leds will give a wide angle of light. I used flat top and silver metallic sharpie to the inside of the housing. |
