Default My SCX10.2 Motor and Tranny so far...

So I’ve been toying with the idea of creating my own transmission, transfer case and scale motor. I’m on iteration 5. It has been a ton of fun and challenges. My transmission and transfer case may take on another revision to actually match a Jeep XJ trans/transfer case. The engine however is based off a 4.0L inline 6. I’m still working on parts. Everything will screw or bolt on. Valve cover is designed just not printed yet.

Nice! not many straight 6's out there.

Does it clear the servo?

What gear reduction gears are you using?

They are right out of the stock SCX10.2 transmission. I did use a 12t/40t combo in the bell housing.

Thats an awesome project! I had an idea to do just the transfer case but chickened out.

I'd be interested to see the guts if you open it up again, I know its just a standard SCX10.2 setup but I'm still curious.

I’ve made a few updates. Modified the transmission and transfer case a bit. I’ve got the head, valve cover, oil filter, distributor, pulley and belt assembly created and printed. So much more still to do. Been playing with tranny design way to much. Finally happy with it. Still need to design starter, intake, exhaust (all the way back to tail pipe) and much more.

Thats the rabbit hole of scale details, add some basics and realize you need a boat load more to complete it.

Its looking great so for, thanks for sharing the project and opening it up for us to see

It's hard for me to tell from the pictures. Is the gear mesh adjustable?

Yes. There are slots in the engine block housing to allow it to be adjusted slightly. With this setup I cannot change the pinion and more that one tooth either way. I could design that differently and I may but for now I am just designing it for me and have my ratios set.

Awesome work. Love the design and the scale looks. Very accurate and detailed. Now the rest of the truck needs to match this level!
