Default Metal axle housings

What’s a good metal housing to replace the one piece ones that come with the trail honcho? Not really wanting to spend 400$ for curries but the 80$ off brand ones have mixed reviews. What do you guys run?

I’ve ran xtra speed housings with good results. Topped off with some eBay alloy knuckles and c-hubs
But now with all the stuff out there I would likely run ssd pro44 plastic housings with beef tubes if they if.. not sure if they do.. and add metal c-hubs and knuckles if I were going to do it over.

I’ve beaten the snot out of my weighted SSD Pro44 sets for almost two years. Current PowerPlant is a 2200 revolver(SW4),VP trans with dig OD geared up front.runs on 3s 54/12.

Good prices on both but unfortunately mine came with the one piece housings so I would have to buy everything minus gears.

Fricker, why would you take the plastic/metal ssd’s over the extra speed all metal?

I swapped from 1-piece to the xtra speed and used the same axle shafts bearings gears etc. just had to buy the hubs knuckles and lockouts.
The plastic housings slide over the type of terrain I run on better than the metal. But IMO the metal housings add some nice weight down low

Yeah, that makes sense. I’m starting to see why most people have more than one rig, lots of directions you can go.

Are there any decent ones that are 1 piece?
