Default Fricker08’s 10.3

Well here we go! Ups delivered My long awaited Scx10 iii today from a little shop in Southern California. Thanks to my dad and some good friends for looking out!
Got the axles assembled and the transmission pretty easily. Only Thanks to all the people that had issues in the beginning. I’m opting for running dig and 2 speed with align ds450 high voltage micro servos.
I’m running a Holmes Hobbies torquemaster 35T with a hobbywing 1080. Unfortunately the esc that was supposed to be here on the 23rd... is shipping from China. Due to shady eBay sellers. Luckily Amain hobbies got them back In stock and have one in route.

After building my Capra I have been anxiously awaiting this build and haven’t been disappointed yet! Pre-tapped a few things here n there but the fit n finish is top notch so far.

Default Fricker08’s 10.3

Got the chassis assembled, axles and suspension mounted. Damn near a roller.
No major hiccups, just a couple self inflicted mistakes. Enjoying the build so far.
I’m on the fence about painting the roof black and possibly painting the wheels. I still need to get paint for the interior so it’s still a few days from being totally complete
Oh and the 6100at doesn’t fit in the receiver box lol
The align ds450 is a tight squeeze for the 2 speed, needed a little shimming to set in position. I also still need to get creative on setting up the horn as I won’t be running a saver. I’ll be working on that when the rest of my electronics show up.

Looking good. I'm curious to know how those Align servos end up working out.

As soon as I get them up n running I’ll try to do a write up about it. The one in my Capra works awesome as a 3 position dig.

I have one in the Capra and one in the 10.3 I took the Spektrum SX107 out of the Capra and used it for the Dig on the 10.3

Making slow progress, waiting for the esc to show tomorrow before I can finish setup. Started working on the interior though

So I haven’t got a whole lot done, I’m on a weird work schedule but having the next 4 days off I’m hoping to get this thing wrapped up.
I stripped the silver off the wheels and shot them with semi-flat black. And mounted up a set of r35 krawlers.
My hobbywing 1080 showed up from Amain, and I got refunded from eBay due to false tracking info for the other. Had a really weird deal going on with the steering when I touched the receiver.. and thanks to searching the electronics thread I found my solution. The avc was “off” but not deactivated. Once I got that figured out and recovered the infamous disappearing aux settings I started setting up the dig and 2 speed.
I will say, just bolting the servo arm to the dig lever was not very efficient. Too much flex in all those moving parts. I was able to trim the stock servo horn and bolt it in top of the align horn, drill out the horn and center of the dig arm to accept a 2.6mmx18mm screw and I think I got that working well on a 3 pos.

The 2 speed on the other hand... took a little more ingenuity. Stock align horn was too short for the low speed. So I trimmed a 4 way horn that came with it, screwed the 2 together and made a lever setup. Works pretty smooth after dialing in the end points.
Now I’m waiting on a receiver box to house the 6100at so I can button up the wiring and hopefully lay some paint before the rain hits Monday

Well it’s late, but I finished the paint and assembly of the body. So here we are! Maybe I’ll be able to snap some better pics before the storm rolls in
Paint is ps23 backed with ps13 then with ps5. Not sure it had the effect I was looking for but not bad nonetheless

Got to take it out for a quick run before I got rained on. The 2 speed needs some work but the dig worked nice.. on the flat ground lol
Pretty happy with the build over all! Wouldn’t say I’m 100% done but it was nice to drive it.
Enjoy a couple pics!

Thanks for the compliments!

Waiting on a receiver box so wrap up the wiring. Haven’t been able to take it out again due to weather and my work schedule. But I can’t wait

So this happened! Ended up with a 10.3 after some horse trading. Needs some cleaning up and a few parts. But pretty clean otherwise.

Wow, how did you end up with 2? What are the plans for the orange one?

I’ve had a lot of free time lately and I bought a couple rigs. Did some swapping sold some. Ended up trading some parts to a fellow member for a RR10 roller. Put some electronics it and a guy wanted to trade straight up.

Not sure what the plan is, I’m going to add dig, some things and go through it. I’ll probably end up selling it as a bind and drive.

So I cleaned this thing up, stripped the silver off the wheels. Added the rest of the decals and threw it up for sale locally.
People lately on these 3rd party hosting sites lately have just about ticked me off. Wanting stuff for free or dirt cheap. Anyways it may end up on fleabay or I may just make this my new rig and keep the grey one for real scale driving. It turned out pretty good for what I’ve got in it.
