Default Fricker08’s Capra build.

Well I sold my main rig and couldn’t wait for the 10.3 to ship so here we are!
Capra kit
Hobbywing 1080
Holmes Hobbies torquemaster pro 35t
Savox 1212sg
Align ds450 dig
Spektrum dx5c w/ sr515
Element springs
Have some axial r35 krawlers I’ll be running. Saving the deanodized and polished wheels for the 10.3
Looking forward to putting my spare time to use and building this Goat!

Good luck with the build!! Mine has been an awesome rig. I tried the Enduro springs and felt they were a little too stiff for me, but give them a shot on your terrain.

Default Fricker08’s Capra build.

Thanks guys!
So far so good, got both axles built with no major issues.
Lashlee, do you recall which enduro springs you ran? I’ve got green .71lb and white .95lb
I’ll see how they go. Can always swap to stock of needed for sure

So in case you’re building one of these and you think you’re missing a piece to the transmission... it’s probably just stuck to another piece!
Oh man I started to hit panic mode until I pulled a picture up online.

Got the transmission assembled with the Holmes Hobbies torquemaster 540 35t. Just need to do some wiring.

Also got the align ds450 dig servo mounted and that looks like it’s going to work out, running a servo horn and proper set epa.

Also got the shocks built with the enduro springs and the provided 35 wt oil to start. Can’t say how happy I am that I picked up a set of the protek shock pliers. Definitely made life easier installing ball ends and holding the shock shafts.

That’s it for tonight!
Tomorrow links and hopefully make this thing a roller.

Default Fricker08’s Capra build.

Well she still needs some wiring, tweaking, and a little finish work. But the wheels turned off the radio and got the steering setup. Need to program the 1080 but all in all it was a pretty fun build!
No major issues and I’m happy with all the components that went into this build. Can’t wait to go test it out.

I ended up being the using Axial Purple soft soft springs which is rated at 0.72 lb/in. I tried the Element gray springs which are rated at 1.49 lb/in. I know many people have been happy with the gray springs, I am only using 35 wt oil so I know that plays into the flex of the rig. Either way, you should be pleased.

Right on, I appreciate the info. I did read that a lot of guys run the grey springs. I too am running the 35wt oil but I’m impressed how much flex this thing has. Just on the table so far, but I don’t think I’ve had a car that has utilized the whole stroke of a shock before.

Good looking Capra.

I'll be curious to see how the Align servo works.

Hey thanks man! I really wanted to do gunmetal instead of black but the Lhs was out. So metallic black it is.

I just setup the dig using my new spektrum dx5c, it was pretty simple.. no thanks to the manual. But I have it set in 3 pos. With rear freewheel at the neutral spot of switch C. Set the travel both ways and I have a fully functioning 3 position dig. How it performs.. well I guess only time will tell

Thanks! Haven’t had a chance to take it out yet due to weather, attempted to run it yesterday.. but I’m new to the Hobbywing 1080 and I had the motor wires reversed. Stupid mistake.. easy fix.
My only real gripe is stuffing the battery in and of of this thing. I ended up trimming the battery tray slightly and that definitely helped. But it could be due to my reedy wolfpack 2s is every bit of the battery compartment size.

Why are you using the Element springs on your shocks?

My Capra sat too high with the stock springs, no preload, fully loaded.

To make it more of a droop setup. Dezracer99, My dad, put them on his. I read a lot of guys running the stock grey springs but weren't impressed. The purple springs from axial are on back order. If they come back in stock I may try those

I’m curious. Are you running with the stock pinion? I think it’s 14T. Wondering if I should go down to 10 or 11T since I plan to run with 3S LiPo.
