Doesn't really matter all that much. I run the same gearing on about all voltages. I usually only run 3s and 4s every once in awhile.

Right on. Thanks for your dedication to this thread, even RC vets like myself can come in and learn something. The Wraith kit should be here in a couple days so I plan to be in this neck of the woods much more often.

Hopefully the Gen2's aren't just a face-lifted Redline, released only to up the prices on their "standard" racing motors. Not that the first gen Redlines aren't solid motors, I'd just like to think I spent an extra $25 for something. I'm not sure that I've seen any solid reference as to what improvements have been made.

Harley your the man!!! Have a wraith built with RR trans gears mips and hd gears,need better lockers yet so no problem there. What's a good brushless motor/esc combo for high resolution rock crawling and rock bouncing wheel speeds and what gears would you use on 3s. I have a RR 32p slash spur just need to get the super shafty top shaft. Thanks in advance.

I'd go with the brushless setup I outlined in the first post. Gearing should be in post 4 I think...

I was just wondering what brand spur gear could i get in the 84 tooth or if there are any suggestions? I'm running a hand wound 35t tekin pro and would like to switch from the stock gearing to the 84/18 suggested in this thread but my lhs told me that axial doesnt make a 84 tooth spur.

Just run a 17 tooth pinion on the stock spur...it's basically the same ratio.

Axial makes the 87 spur for sure, I did not find the 84 neither.. I also got an RRP plastic 87 spur , finally ended up using the steel clutch 88t RRP and u can still mount the stock spur gear cover!

So I'm sitting here the other night going through some stuff.I came across a 12t titan motor. Now I've seen some guys run it and have a bad outcome but on the other hand I've seen some with great outcomes. So I started messing with the gearing, and esc's. I tried a xl5, tazer 10t , a novak rooster, the stock ae-2, and a small lrp AI runner reverse.This is what I came up with. IMO The 12t on the stock rtr AE-3 esc with 87/14 or 6.21 to 1 gearing is spot on for good all around running. It won't back down from crawling and it's got a little pep in it's step when it comes to speed.I ran mine for 45 min going from serious crawling to just bashing and the motor and esc never heated up.And this was with a set of heavy IROKS,and one for a spare. Now I'm not saying this is the motor, esc combo of the year but......If you find yourself without a motor and have a 12t around, or just want to try something a bit different. Give the titan a shot you might just like it."thumbsup"

I see that a lot of people ask about 32P pinions and spurs, I'm one of them so I have a suggestion, would it help to start a new thread were a list of pinions and spurs with the brand and part number could be easily seen without having to search too much.

I seen some set-ups were the pinion's contact width was smaller than the spur, in my opinion it should the the other way around.
Does the Jato spur bolt on without any mods, in others words will the three holes align, because I know that the spurs off my Slash 4X4 do not.

Harley- Just had a quick question. I'm a new wraith owner. Iv'e read post 1 to 4. You suggest 8 different motors, 2 esc's, and 3 gear combos. Didn't see anything on diff gears or truck weights. I've accumulated a small stockpile of motors and gears trying to chase great crawling ability and good top speed. What total running weight did you base your suggestions on? Am I pissing in the wind trying to get the best of both worlds here?

SPECS:
8.6lb. Wraith, MMP, Tekin redline 13.5. 60/12 32p gearing.CC BEC

Programming is spot on. No binding in anything and it runs smooth as butter in all functions except.....

QUESTION:
Drive it up to the wall squared up. Ease into the throttle to climb straight up the wall and it climbs the front tires up about 4-6" and then just stalls out. I can back off the throttle and then get back in it and it will shoot up the wall and flip over, obviously but why does it stall?

Any 35t brushed setup have ran will walk right up the wall.
Am I expecting too much out of that motor?

Hmmm, sounds like a sensor issue. Are you running full sensor mode?

Sorry I missed your post.

I never have talked about weight because the variables just start to get crazy. That 8-10lb range seems to be most common.

The lower the gearing you can get and still be happy with the top end speed the better you will be in the end!

I think it's called SMART sense or something.

Put it in full sensor mode and try that.

This did not work either.
I checked the sensor wire again and everything. I have figured out that if I just approach at a slight throttle it is fine though so I think it is good to go but. I just figured it should walk up a vert. from a standstill.
