Default Vanquish Disc Brake Install

The following post was taken from My build thread.

http://www.fasteddybearings.com/axia...h-bearing-kit/ (not required but a good idea to refresh after beating on your truck)

Now the VP design is very simple and straight forward, offering maximum adjustment of the caliper location. However there is a problem still, but it's actually the Axial universals (and probably the dog bones). As most of you have probably noticed, there is a TON of end play in the stub shafts.

The first thing I did since I was in the area any way replace the bearings. Continuing to use the kit Fast Eddy sent me In order to get rid of the end play I had to use 4 shims of various sizes.

Behind the large bearing I used two 0.25mm shims.

Behind the front bearing I used one 0.20mm and one .05mm shim.

After installing these shims I have nearly zero end play in the stub shaft and the universals still spin freely without bind at full lock.

Next I installed the caliper mount on the knuckle. Then slide the rotor on the SLW hub. Install the wheel nut. Now mark the dowel pins to cut them to length. Remove the caliper, cut the pin and reinstall.

It is very important to follow the steps above. If you do not the rotor will be constantly rubbing the caliper and you also risk the caliper hitting or rubbing the wheel. You run the risk of damaging the rotor, caliper and mount if you don't do this first thing.

It's his Wraith specific set, I'll look up the number. I think it retails for $20.

I picked them up from my hobby shop, they sold them to me unpackaged. Tower is sure to have what you need though. I'll try and add a link to the first post.

I went to the Fast Eddie site and that part # pops up 3 pages of various kits and parts, but none of which are listed as "Wraith Bearing kit". Is this kit listed under some other name? And are the various sized shims included?

Hmmm, that was the number on the bag I received. He started a thread here on it, I'll find that. The shims are sold separate.

Links have been added for the brakes and bearings. Didn't find a shim pack, I'll see what Eddy has.

I need two sets of shims for my Wraiths!! It would be cool if someone had a kit for the Wraith. I don't need stacks of shims laying around...lol

Outside chance that Fast Eddy could handle that, I really have no idea for sure though. I see he sells shim kits for other trucks.

OK Shims are ordered in and will be available by late next week.
Ill make a kit that will include what you need to do 1 SET of 2 rotors.
Is that what you want?
