It's not that bad once you have done it a few times.

I hope to see it working when I get back from the lake. :ror:

Gonna be there for a while? Haha
I need to get the stuff to be able to program servos and esc's now that there is a pc in the house(Mac snob) courtesy of my new bride. I haven't used a windows based system in forever so I'll have to relearn that garbage of a system.

Wow, the chassis turned out killer. So which axle is it going to be?

Good question. The ultimate 9 is all welded up and will be heading home soon. I got 3 different styles of very scale axles to use, I'm just gonna wait till I get everything in front of me and see what fits. Axles will probably be the very last item.

Very nice platform!

CarterFab 07-19-2012 04:44 PM

Shocks showed up. Love these! Feel really nice. Extreme detail. SCX-10 springs fit perfect. Much larger bodies than original dual spring design, should be good for the bigger rigs.

" SCX-10 springs fit perfect"...What part of the springs will fit on the king shocks? I'm confused. Please post up:shock:

X2 on were you got the shocks from. They would go perfect on my zone off-road project mj build.

RC4wd has them.....

Yes, rc4wd is the place. The cool springs can replace the blue springs these come with. That way you can tune them better.

The option to run them remote reservoir or as an emulsion shock. More detail to come

So do these shocks use oil? Is there room to internally spring them?

BTW, I absolutely love this build and your axles. I really wish I had the capability to build what I want like you......someday.

Can't wait to see this rig finished, keep up all the custom machined stuff, it turns me on .

The machine work and axles are all I can do to separate me from you guys putting so much detail in your rigs. I just have to tell my self to slow down and take the time, I get to impatient when I have a bunch of parts in front of me and have always just put a rig together so I can start having fun. The machine work on this is keeping me plenty occupied though.

On to the shocks.
Yes they hold oil.
Shock body OD is .393" or 10mm
Each coil is 1.600" or 40.5mm
The shafts are .138" or 3.5mm
Shock body ID is .298 or 7.5mm (this would be the max diameter of an internal spring)
Length of bore w/shaft extended is 1.625 or 41mm (max length of an internal spring)

Hope that helps
Clay

I know they may be a little on the big side, but maybe run the reservoirs that you removed, as air bumps? Just a thought"thumbsup"

Yeah these are a bit big in every dimension. If I start turning them down, I will loose all the lettering. I will be machining my own that will be scale to size and "functional".

Yeah, I thought so....

I am very surprised that nobody offers anything like that yet. Wish I had the machines capable of turning out some cool "airbumps" Just put a small internal spring in there or a piece of soft rubber. hmm...

I think the reason being is that there is not really a format where they just bolt up like shocks or wheels. Only way to make them scale is to have the cans welded on and most people just aren't up for that.
I was thinking a pin spring inside to make it return to extension.
