| New Tekin 13.5 cogging?
I just switched out my HH 35t brushed/ae2 esc for a new Tekin redline 13.5 and MMP using 48p 20/80 gears. The 13.5 motor is cogging quite a bit down low when im trying to crawl. Would like know from others with the same setup if this is normal for the 13.5? or is my gearing off? my FDR is 4 right now, i will be ordering some 32p gears soon.

How securely attached in the sensor wire? With running more voltage and gearing down, cogging is normal with brushless.

I checked the sensor wire on the esc/motor aswell they're nice and snug, it only coggs when im trying to crawl, once i blip it it takes off and backflip.. are you running the same motor? if so what gearing works for you/

Dropping gearing towards 5:1 should really help with cogging.

80/20=4.00 Robinson Racing Gear Ratio Chart A kit like this one will fix the issue: Axial Wraith - Complete Drive Shaft Upgrade Kit by C.I. I am using a 13.5 Tekin RedLine on 4S in my Wraith. Here is a link to my build thread: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial-wraith/328702-crawler-innovations-white-lightning-wraith.html My current gearing is: 62T Spur 32 Pitch 8T Pinion 32 Pitch 62/8= 7.75 gear ration and with big 6" cut n shut tires, my wraith really likes that gearing for crawling. How your MMP is programmed can make a difference as well. But your ratio is too high for crawling. Your 4.00 ratio is more of a rock racing / bashing gear ratio.

Low start power, low timing advance, then set the physical timing where you want it. I like 12 degrees for crawling.

It shouldn't cog at all, being sensored. Do you have another motor you can try on the ESC?

My set up is identical and have done some decent crawling and never seen cogging. I've heard of a couple people having faulty sensor wires. Might try replacing yours.

So what are the rest of u guys geared at with the 13.5 on 3s w/no cogging? I have another sensor wire i will give it a shot.. i will be switching to 32p gearing aswell, will prob go with a 11,12/56,58 combo I will double check my MMP settings tonight.. i think i have timing at 0 and low start power, 213% crawler brakes (this is way to much need to tone it down) |

Sorry but not true. If you load something down to the point it barely turns, it's going to cog. It's fighting a smooth startup because of the load. 80/20 gearing in 48 pitch gear ratio is not ideal for rock crawling. It's decent for bashing. 3S voltage is not all that much. If you are trying to low speed crawl or technical crawl a course, a 13.5 sensored inrunner motor is going to cog with improper gearing and low voltage.

I am running 16 / 80 in mine without any real issues crawling. I think you will have to extend your slots if you want to go down to 14, but thats up to you. Pinions are cheap, probably good to have a 14, 16, and 18 in your box.

58/11 would be my recommendation based on what you listed. I set the motor timing down to zero. Sometimes they won't go that far down. I do this so I can use the CHEAT programming in the MMP. I have it add 22* of timing in the higher RPM's. I set the start power to High in the MMP.
