| super shafty beefy top shaft
I was wondering if there is another shaft similar to the super shafty beefy top shaft? It has been out of stock for quite some time now and I have no idea when it will be available again. Need a shaft that will work with Traxxas slipper unit. Thanks! |

Not that I know of,keep looking at his threads he usually posts when he puts some more up for sale individually. He makes a batch at a time and some of that batch goes to full tranny builds. I had to be patient and vigilant on his web site, when the moment comes, and it will be soon jump on one because they don't stay in stock for long.

use these parts to make the stock top shaft to work. slipper clutch-TRA5556 clutch disc-TRA5552x Then add your traxxas spur gear. You might have to slightly open up the hole for the pin. |

| Re: super shafty beefy top shaft Thanks I've been looking at the Slash clutch as a temporary fix while the SS top shafts are out. Does that mean in theory the Robinson clutch would work with the stock shaft too?

I think the 48p RRP slippers work as stock replacements, it's when you jump to the 32p Gen3 series is when the longer top shaft is needed.

All you need to make the stock top shaft work is a 10x5 bushing or bearing and a 5mm washer. Remover the pin, slip the bushing and washer on, replace the pin. This will pull the top shaft out far enough for the Robinson 32P Gen3 slipper back plate to clear the motor plate. I just did this conversion 5 minutes ago. Geared 56/14 with proper gear mesh. Smooth and quiet. I'm still going to get the Beefy Top Shaft from SuperShafty though. A little birdy told me they would be in at the end of the week. |

Pin hole is in the stock shaft already. Maybe I misunderstood your question. The spacer fits just under the pin hole to keep the shaft out of the case far enough so that the Gen3 slipper back plate doesn't rub the motor plate. Maybe I'll make a short vid when I get home. Probably is. I'm by no means trying to say that the stock shaft is the way to go. All I am saying is that the stock shaft can be made to work really easily. |

The pin size is different (I saw it in one of Harley posts yesterday but can't find it now doh) the Axial pin is 1.5mm, the Traxxas pin is 2.0mm though they're the same length so apparently the stock pin will work but it "could" have a little slop against the pin (I'd believe the pressure of the slipper spring should take that out though) If you had the trans that far appart you could drill the stock shaft & run a Traxxas 2mm pin also. But without doubt the SS shaft will still be first option. | |

The SS top shaft does have a larger pin that does fit with less slop in the RR slash gear. The stock pin won't last long in the RR gear if running big brushless power and it may damage the RR gear.

Running stock top shaft and no issues with 6s 1/8 scale 4pole brushless power and 56/14 gearing. I guess I'll upgrade if when its needed. kISS Keep it stupid simple Last edited by evan03; 07-13-2013 at 06:32 PM. |

Got mine delivered today. Put one in the Wraith. 1/2 turn out seemed to be too much. I tightened it all the way down. The 2mm pin was a hair too long for the Gen3 slipper back plate. Had to grind maybe .5mm off for it to sit down in the backplate slot. Worked great after that and still fits under the stock gear cover! |

Skip the shaft. Mine only gave me issues. The stock shaft seems to be just fine. Plenty of the local guys are running high power brushless set ups with the stock shaft. It could be that I got a bad one. Their customer Sevice was on point though. |

| My trans was binding. Originally I thought it was just tight. But after rebuilding it so many times I got frustrated. I was about to buy a RC4WD 2 speed trans. Hatefulboy recommend I swap shafts and bingo, all is right with the world. My trans spins freely and is very smooth. I doubt that Harley would recommend a product that doesn't work or isn't high quality. I'd bet I got a bad shaft. But, by the time I figured it about almost 8 months had passed and I don't expect any company to warranty a product after that long. They (Supershafty) were awesome with communication and customer service. And their product is highly recommended by people with more experience than me with these crawlers. Running without one shouldn't be an issue. |
