Question Tranny gears and super shafty top shaft

Hi all, which steel gear set do I use if I plan on using the super shafty top shaft when it is restocked. I am following harleys guide. One thing I was confused about with the gears, is the robison only shows two gears for sale and hot racing shows three. which set do I buy, and which top gear will fit on super shafty?

Thanks all

I bought the hot racing gears and they will fit on the super shafty. The robinson racing gears will also fit. I've had no problems with my HR gears. Been running them for about a month.

Awesome thanks! I didnt see a top shaft gear sold by robinson racing, only final drive gear and idler.

I think they do but i'm not 100% sure. Never looked into it because I bought the HR gears. are you going to a bl system? Is that why you are upgrading?

RRP does not make a top gear at this time, probably never will. I have purchased many sets of the HR gears, I use all 3 when I install them. The SuperShafty top shaft is the same diameter as the stock one, it is just longer and tougher than the stock one.

I just did the supershafty trans but it had the stock top gear and rrp idler cause they didnt have anymore sets of the HR gears, one full pack then 50' of a new pack and the top gear let go! Took out the idler and very slight damage to the HR lower gear. The stock gear and rrp gears seem like a hardend pot metal, while the HR gears are a true steel and wont chip or crack. So i say only HR gears!

You will need to look at the transmission case to make sure it didn't warped and check the bearings to see if they are ok. A warped case or bad bearings could damage even a new HR gear set.

I switched to the Vanquish transmission case due to the plastic case warping and cracking.
