Default Axial 5-light universal light bar wiring question...

So I ordered the Axial 5-light, light bar (same one that's on the Exo I believe) for my Wraith. I know a few here have this light bar on their Wraith.

Where or how do you have it wired? I have the Axial simple light controller now for the standard front and rear lights. How much current can these safely take? I'll be running a 3S LiPo, can I tap off the battery current or is that too much voltage for the LEDs?

I was thinking about installing a switch on the Wraith so I could turn the light bar on and off too.

Thanks!
Maybe down the road ill pick up an NVS controller. For now ill have to figure something out, maybe run the light bar off a 9V battery.

I used an led calculator on superbrightleds website. Mine are all wired parallel with a resistor on each led. Then wired in to a heyok light controller @ 6 volts from the receiver.

i went to radio shack and the nerd that worked there punched some numbers into his calculator watch and told me which leds to get.
i soldered some stuff together and it worked. not a pretty as it could be though.

ps- i hooked it right to the receiver aux port then to a small switch that i put in to replace the single shifter.
i also put in a connector in the roof so i can remove the 5 light bar.

Hmmm, I wonder if I can tap into the current off my Castle BEC I have set to 6V for the servo?

Yes.

I expect that you have the BEC output plugged into your receiver so you can just plug into an unused socket or run it from a Y cable in any channel.

I'm going to wire the BEC direct from the battery to the servo and obviously use the yellow signal wire off the reciever, so technically the BEC won't be plugged into the reciever.

At some point I'd like one of your units where I can turn the lights on and off via radio.

Sure, then just connect it in parallel with the power going to your servo

Happy to get you one of my lighting controllers!
