Default tranny advice

got a sensored 13.5 and 17.5 an losi esc. i need a tranny. what i have already is a r2 that needs rebuilt. 15.00 or buy a stock ax10 tranny with slipper? i know the axial will need gear upgrades and 32p spur and pinion. my question is

should i just go with the r2 rebuild it and be good? or get a axail run it like it is and upgraded later? can the axail handle 13.5 or 17.5 power in stock form? for a couple of months with 2s lipos not a speed rig trails and crawling only?

In the long run you should go with the Axial. Durability is higher in my opinion with upgraded gears.

There's a lot of people that are still running the stock trans gears. I've seen first hand a Wraith with a VXL system on 3S take a beating without breaking anything, also seen the same rig with a HH BRXL & 7T Puller on 3S do some wicked stuff with no broken parts. A big factor in my opinion would be proper setup of your slipper and control of your throttle finger.

I ran stock gears for a long while with a nocak 17.5/tekin rs on 3s. The older, hollow alum outputs are the only stock item I refuse to run.

i ran the castle sv2 4600 system for awhile on 3 cell with no damage, i later changed to 2100kv 2250watt 1/8 scale motor and stripped the idler gear running on 5s. i changed to a robinsion idler and have been going strong for awhile and have ran 6s lipos on it.

i did stripp the idler when the paddles were loose then hooked up hardcore literaly instantly stripped the idler.
