| The "Farmer's Daughter" Wraith build
Well I know this has all been done before..........but it's my daughter Skylar's Wraith. So here it goes. This all started out a few weeks ago when she finally decided she wanted a crawler. Main reason being, to put Barbies in it Then she said I also don't want to drive through the tennis balls!!! So the Wraith was the choice. I had a extra Wraith chassis that Rick at SuperShafty.com gave me to fix mine that I mangled pretty good, but the shoe goo and zip ties are still holding. Thanks Rick, your awesome Then Ben (superduty03) and Jake(binary terror ) hooked me up with a ton of extra goodies to get the ball rolling a little quicker. Thank you guys a ton, it means a ton to us We started building on Saturday night with what we had. Then I made a couple deals on here and snuck up to the LHS for some more goodies. I will update his as we get more parts. Should be a roller by next week Now on to the parts list as of now. -Front axle- Vp housing, knucks, c's, tie rod, pan hard/cms, 4 link mount, and locker. Axial universals and HD r&p -Rear axle- Vp housing, RC4WD 4 link, Axial stock lockouts, stock locker, stock axle shafts, and HD under driven r&p. -Wheels and tires- V1 SLW's with r35 ripsaws/C.I. 5.5" foams -Electronics- FXR with cc bec Br00d 30 turn skewed quad mag motor No name servo for now. -Chassis/links- Stock Wraith with cms for now. Vp uppers/lowers -Trans- Stock Wraith housing and outputs stock gearing. All Robinson gears. -Shafts- Wild boars with rod mod. That's all I have for now. On to some build and poser pics Don't mind that razor blade As soon as we get some more goods and time we will post up some more pics a specs! Unless I trade her axles and rims. That Pink is hot Yo!!!!! Later, Farmer Last edited by Farmer; 01-30-2013 at 08:40 PM. |

I like the fact that you have her wrenching on her own stuff. I definitely understand the doll thing I finally had to put the windows in my tF2 every time I turned around my little one had another doll stuffed in the window |

Very cool Farmer. Can't wait to see the look on her face the first time she whips all of us. You know it will happen. I also can't tell you enough how cool it is that you are helping her with the build. Not building it for her and then saying here, it's yours. Still to this day I remember my Dad and I sitting in the basement, every night for a week, putting together my Tamiya Lunch Box. He showed me what the illustrations in the manual meant and then where the parts went. In no time at all I was modding the axles and making changes to make her faster. And when I broke it, it was my job to fix it. That is what being a Dad is all about. Teaching those life lessions that can't be given to your children... |

That was my start too, 1987.... dad got me a Lunchbox for Christmas. I remember staying up until late in the night building it with him. Can't wait to have the chance to do that with my daughter.

Well we finally had some time to build the transmission. Pretty mild, went with the free parts from binary terror. Thanks brother Stopped in at my LHS and grabbed some Robinson gears to get rid of the plastic and that's it. She really had fun putting it together, even though it took no time at all. I wish I had the rest of the goods to finish today, but I will soon. Still torn on what shocks to use. Definetley want a low stance though. The man cave is a Wraith haven right now, I have mine, hers, and superduty03's all being built or rebuilt right now What the hell did I get myself into Here is a few pics from tonight Hope to get some more updates very soon Later, Farmer |
