Default Axle help

Crawling on rocks lastnight and well broke some stuff. First noticed tires locked up at full right turn. Wouldn't move back at all. New Savox 1258tg is fried. And this carnage.

Question is how do I get the dogbone out and what's the best route to go here. New axles or upgaded parts?

I'm still a bit noob to this myself, but it looks as if the bearing is torn apart. From what i can tell its a front axle, so i would try taking it apart and check your gearing in the axle, and the axle body itself. Definitly will need new bearings, so while youre at it i would also look into getting the universal joint axle part...AX30780.

if your gears are torn up inside the axle, they have a heavy duty set you can purchase just need to decide on which ratio you would want.
I hope that helps

Yeah it's the front axle. I have it tore apart with gears out but can't figure out how to get the dogbone out of the axle itself. That is the inner bearing that is trashed. Not sure why or how but it is a Wraith and a money pit.

The gears are fine. It's just the dogbone and the bearing

No the axles are stock other the nuckles and hubs. They don't pull out for some reason.

Got it. Screws holding the lower link/ shock were in the way.

if its just the dogbone and bearing i'd upgrade to the universal axle, and purchase a set of ceramic bearings. Its kind of an odd part to blow out, but i'm never surprised by the parts i break myself.

I was just going to mention the shock/link screws!! Yeah they hold most axles from coming out easily. I have the kit Wraith with Universals and they are nice but I recently bought the Vanquish VVDs and wow!! They are massive and beefy!! They are longer than the stock universals. I had to buy them in order to lock my front down using the Vanquish heavy duty lockers.

since were on the conversation, do the universals work for the rear axles as well? I haven't seen a specific upgrade kit for the rear dogbones.

I'd love to get the VP parts but it seems most hobby shops around here sell the cars but not the parts. And I am on the road more then home so I hate to order parts cause it's two to three weeks before I'm home again. Plus I take the rc with me to play at the job and motel.

So not sure why the Savox stopped working completely but after searching many threads a lot of people say stay away from them ( unfortunately Savox is a brand over stocked here).
If I have to order a new servo what is going to be best?

Hitech or Futaba. How much do you want to spend? What type of driving do you do most?

Plus one what he said I run a Hitec and not had any problems, think the gearing is stronger in them than the savox ones

1258 isnt realy the right servo for a crawler type rig. way under powerd unless you happen to be running 7.4 volts to it.

the savox 1230 has some pretty dang good reviews here and many more awesome reviews if you do alitle alittle research on it outside this website. it reaches its full power potential of 500oz at 6 volts whereass the hitechs need 7.4 volts and 50-70 dollars more to do the same thing.

if i remember right the savox 1230 has 404oz at 4.8 volts

i putt my helicopter in the dirt last weekend hard from 60-70 feet with 5 savox titanium geard servos onboard no gear damage no broken servos. just a busted ego and huge parts bill to get the 600 going.

theres a reason many rc hobbie shops are stocking savox servos

if you have the money go hitech. you wont be dissapointed, youl just have a grin and alot less money

i tore my alxe down to inspect and do some repairs and had my eyes crossed for awhile trying to figure out why the inner axles wouldnt pull out. finaly clicked and i pulled the shock mount bolts and they slid right out.

ive been hitting all my bearings with 3in1 oil every few days. ill lay it on its side and let the oil soak in to the bearings then flip it over and do the other side same with the pinions and tranny bearings.
