Default Tube chassis build question....

I am getting tools together to build a 3/16 tube chassis for my wraith. I see that everyone uses safety silv to braze chassis on here... I found a safety silv kit that comes with flux and safety silv 56. But I was looking for more safety silv 56 (sticks) but everithing I find says flux coated. Do I still use the flux with the sticks or am I looking at the wrong thing.. Not trying to ask a stupid question but this stuff is expensive and I can't afford to waste the money and purchase the wrong stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated...

Even with the wire and the sticks that have the flux in it, I still use the canned flux as well.

I've used the high tin stuff before but the joints just don't hold up like they do with the 56 or 45. A lot of us tried that stuff way back in the day too, there were quite a few debates that pretty much all ended up the same way though.

I get mine locally from a Welding supply shop, they are usually a couple bucks cheaper than the Home Depot online deal but not by a ton. I have never used the sticks, never found them in the higher silver contents.

It's all in the build quality.

That was built by Rckjeep (spelling?) back in 2004 or 2005. It is still around today, owned by jason here on the board. Jasoninaugusta is the one who had it when that video was shot.

Now that would be one worth having. I wonder if he still builds them

I can't remember if he does or not. I bet you would be surprised at the strength of many of the well built tubers on this board.

The chassis in the first video is made from chromoly tubing and welded.

The chassis in the 2nd video isn't.

Dave (rckjeep) built the chassis in the first video.

I got some safety sil 45 with the blue coated flux on it and it was too messy so I use a box cutter blade to remove it and it worked just fine after that. good luck
