Default New Wraith, am I on the Right Path?

OK, so i got the wraith coming tomorrow, and ive ordered up some parts for it.

yes, ive read just about everything i can in the stickies, but i just want to be sure my plan is sound:

****'s Wraith Hood Hinge Kit (for when i move the batt to the front)
****'s "Suicide Switch" Steering Upgrade Kit (will go on once i get the Vanquish stuff)
HR Full Aluminum Links Set (temporary fix until VP stuff...)
Rockstar Bls with white Rovers

i will end up with just about everything for the wraith VP makes, first thing being the steering upgrade to get that insane 50* steering geometry (axle shafts, knuckles etc)

not sure what, but ill also get a better servo at some point (might steal the one off the MRC since its overkill at 333g)

rear deck cover whenever i can find one

better shocks (length?)

the plan is to upgrade the whole thing over time and make it into a good all around 2.2 toy (crawling, but some bashing. not going scale) and ill replace the motor and such at a later point. i figure the parts i got fix the link/steering issues for now until the stuff to make it crazy with steering and such get in my hands.

anything else i just have to have?

oh, and if anyone from VANQUISH reads this, PM me or something, I cant get in touch with you for anything. emails and calls dont work....

I wouldn't buy all that VP stuff then cheap out with Suicide Steering.
Just replace the stock stuff with SS or titanium or tubed all thred,Suicide Steering doesn't work very well on a Wraith.

I beg to differ. Mine performs better than it did with CMS, which sucked, and better than Ti link/rod. Fewer parts = less energy loss. I'm not saying it is for everyone, but I prefer it o. Fiona.

ok, so HOPEFULLY i got it all worked out. getting the Ti vanquish kit and the suicide kit. ill make my own judgement on it, i like the way it looks. not going to do a CMS/panhard so we shall see.

Stay away from the HR links they reall do suck. Look up blue monkey rc. I got my lower four links in titanium for $39.00. After shipping it was cheaper than vp.

lower links that come in the wraith kit are pretty stout. might be had for cheap on ebay. ime have alot of runtime. actualy with very few upgrades my entire wraith is holding up awesome.
made my own steering, robinson tranny gears, 32p spur and pinion. thats it e verything else is as it came in the wraith kit pretty much no aluminum upgrades.

The Suicide steering is garbage. The 2 links puts more stress on the servo horn. Not to mention the 2 links are different lengths and will cause 1 tire to steer much further than the other. If you want to find out about the suicide steering just do a quick search on here. There's been a lot said about it.

fine. i just canceled the WHOLE order till i get this sorted.

now to figure the servo. just ran it for a few and damn this servo is WEAK SAUCE

so can anyone tell me why the wraith slams into reverse when the controller is turned off before the RC? i have a bad habbit of that but now, i wont be since it slammed into the wall at full (i almost say it went faster than when i was running it...) throttle. ideas?

also, does the stock electrics have a drag brake?

thanks all

Yes the stock ESC has drag brake. As for the throttle. If you turn the radio off before the ESC it loses the signal and goes hay wire. You should always turn the car off before the radio.

That's a bit harsh. LOL Although, he is right about one wheel steering more than the other. I've been looking into fabricating a link/servo mount to center the horn. If you get a beefy servo horn, the horn is no longer an issue. I bent my first horn, but the the one I have now is holding up just fine to the torque of my Hitech 7950. Like I said before... "to each his own".

Instead of the hinge kit you can buy a 3/16" cable clamp and the Traxas Battery hold down. See the bottom part of this thread.

Check out R2J's Wraith Links. It would be a better option than the HR ones.

Plus you might like them so much that you won't feel the need to upgrade.

A couple of better options to the Suicide Switch:
