A built from kit Wraith is easily going the hit the $650 to $750 range with just the kit and good electronics. If you try to buy new parts to make up a Wraith it will cost a couple hundred dollars more than just buying a kit.

If you are trying to save money then buying a used Wraith and customizing it would be a way to go.

If you have lots of money then check out this thread.
Vanquish Products releases Currie RockJock 70 Axles for Axial Wraith

You build a really nice Wraith on top of these axles.

I built a Wreckluse from the ground up with wraith axels and some VP essentials, (Chubs, Knucks, universals) and all the right stuff in the gears and tranny, drive shaft etc, etc...I tried to keep it under a K-note...didn't happen. By the time I was done I had about $1500 in it. BUT, I haven 't broken anything either

Build thread

Clanker's Wreckluse

I just started a Mog build Scx10 based...I have about $800 in this so far..build thread at 11

You think you might get away cheaper ...but even buying a kit, you are going to upgrade it..=$$$. If you don't it will nickel and dime you till you do

Best of luck 4D...if you can keep it in your budget, show us how it's done

If you haven't done a Wraith yet, I'd suggest getting a kit or a slightly used one and then build from there. It ends up being cheaper and if you get a slightly used one, you can see what wears.

Thanks for all the info guys..

I know there are a ton of options.

What are some of the parts you running with and are you very happy with them

I see me getting into this heavily.

I am going to start out with RTR new or used RTR Looking at this time ..

If you have any options on them let me know could be interested

But while I am playing wtih that I want to do a build.

Thats the way I do with our jeeps and atvs like to have some to play while i work on another

If you want something nice your easily gonna pay over 1000 bucks. I have well over a grand in mine already and I'm still gonna dump a couple hundred more at least in it to make it the way I want it

Start with the RTR. You don't have to spend your life savings to have fun with it. I bought a kit because I already had the electronics and I just had the cost of the kit in it.
The stock RTR system is good. I would recommend changing the spur gear to the 87t and maybe going to a 12t pinion first then upgrade as stuff breaks our wears out.
Next would be universals for the front axle. The dog bones tend to bind up and break them or the chubs. Then maybe a stronger steering servo and go from there.

I disagree about this one.
I've built all my rigs from used, quality, parts.

A quick gueestimate for used:
AR60's with some hop ups - $120
Chassis/skid - $40
Built up trans - $40
Sotck Axial shocks - $20
wheels - $30
tires - $30
MIP's - $30
br-xl or mmp - $75
threaded rod/sleeves/rod ends: $20
servo & motor: that really depends on what you get.

If your gonna go the cheap route then buying a used one is the best choice in my opinion

Not really looking for cheap but there seems to be alot of good stuff out that may not cost what some of the other parts alike do

I own a Archery Pro Shop for going into 20 years..I sell some the best brands out from about 80 manufactures.

Today you can get quality stuff for the money if you know what to look for.

In the RC world it is a big learning curve for me starting from scratch

If any of you are in Archery let me know ??

I have archery goodies and you most likely have crawler goods I would like...

Been a Hoyt dealer almost 20 years Bowtech going into 10 .Had a 3-D range for 16 years sold it because it was more important for my 7 year old son to have to land to use to ride his atv on than dad having a 3-D range at the shop

Gears, drive lines, and steering. Those are the mandatory upgrades I see. I upgraded to traxxas max drive shafts, Robinson tranny gears and made my own steering links. Ohh hot racing lockers to.

My wraith is otherwise stock and I beat the crap out of it and I'm pretty certain its got more power under the hoid then any other wraith in the world. I'm well under a grand.

I'm not even certain that some of these 1000 plus rigs even see the rocks or trails.

Its kinda hard to use mine when there's a foot of snow on the ground. And the most powerful wraith in the world? That's a pretty tall order to fill
