Tmax shafts shafts are silky smooth compared to stock axial shafts

Don't know bought MIPS but I bet the could be lapped smooth as silk if there not already

I bought some MIPs after breaking enough Wildboar shafts and pins, so I will update this thread with my findings with bearings on the pinion. But my expectations to what will happen are what Harley has said. I am running a 6900Kv Castle motor in my Wraith.

What part numbers did you use?

6900kv?

I'll try and find the part numbers. The tmaxx shafts aren't bolt on

Yes Sir! Can you say rockbouncer status? That's the whole reason why I got the combo. It's a beast on the hills and rocks.

You'll have to buy Crawler Innovation's outputs or Supershafty's transmission outputs

Shafts. Part numbers thanks to crawler innovations

Shafts
Traxxas Maxx Drive Shafts - Heavy Duty

Yokes.
Traxxas 5MM HD - Maxx Drive Shaft Yokes
I drilled these out to 3/16 which made a very tight fit on the outputs and axle pinions..

Shafts also have to be cut to length. I gave mine about 1/8 of movement till the females shaft bottoms out which is all it needs.

Crawler innovation outputs are not needed but the spur cover will need heavy clear dancing.

Here's the crawler innovations outputs and Max shafts kit

48 Pitch - 5mm E-Maxx Drive Shaft Upgrade Kit for Wraith

This is best for those who want to do minimal work to install beefy shafts.

I say my swell run MIPS since a pair if max shafts cost 12 bucks to your basicalt paying for the outputs here.

Would like to see a video if the rig on 6900kv. I'm going to assume 3s and less?

I like to go fast to. And often bounce a rock or two

Bushings on the pinion gears, internal and external... It's the only way to go. I destroyed Axial's HD OD R&P set due to bearing failure. That, and shim your pinion gear so that there is little to no travel in and out with the drive shaft mounted. As for the drive shaft, I suggest going with the MIP's. I second the notion that the friction isn't even remotely noticeable. With the driveshafts off, my axles free wheel easily. The bushings are the way to go.

Installed bushing internal and exsternal and shimmed gears. Shining got rid of a lot of lash in the pinion and ring gears. But still has a hair of back lash like it should.

Used traxxass part #1243 for the bushings and traxxass #1685 for shims.

I'm bought two bags each . And fairly well used up an entire bag of shims

How much shim did you end up using? If I remember correctly I have .2mm in one and .4mm in the other. I'm running bearings in the outer position and traxxas bushings for inners with stock ring and pinion gears. I was at almost zero backlash when I set it up. I need to see how it is now that It's broken in.

bought this much. i dont know what they measure but i did some trial and error test fitting. two shims is tight but still turned one shim leaves alittle backlash.

Where the internal pinion bearing would be. There are two bearings on the pinion. One internal and one external.

Note... The bushings wear out quicker than one might expect... :(

I bought the fast eddy ceramic bearings and the traxxus bushings. I haven't seen a comparison between the two, so I will return with feedback in a week or so.

And just how much quicker compared to the bearings?

I put my wraith through nearly daily use for more than 3 hours a day, all terrain for 2 months and my bearings were 2 uses from being shot, fried, dropped and dragged for 90 miles...
So I guess they were just shot and fried...

Considering bushings so I've gotta know.
