Default whats a good fix for stripped C-Hub carrier screws?

I seem to have wandered into the realm of "oops". I'm not sure if you have been there before, but its not a happy place to be.

My screw holes where the C-hubs mount to the axle housing stripped out....all of them....front and rear!!!! REALLY!?!?!?!

So, instead of just buying a new set of housings, is there a fix for the dreaded stripped holes? I was thinking epoxy but I'm still debating.

Any advice here would be SUPER! Thanks

epoxy and super glue are a good temporary fix.or re-tap the screw holes to 4mm screws.

Without buying housings the beef tubes are a good fix.

I say CA glue works and I use it but yes it is temporary!! I have lots of CA so I just check the screws after every run. If loose take screw out add drop of CA to screw and thread it slowly back in and voila tight as can be.

Beef tubes look good. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axles...s-finally.html

But you need x2 of them so look at about $60..

On the budget note, you could tap it for M4 screws. Or, if money isn't an issue, read above. ;)

striped one of mine all-so !

fix it by running a flush mount bolt up from the inside of the tube & out the top with the nut now on top

did this on the front only & works great now

haven't figured out how to fix a rear striped hole yet !

I cut a small aluminum ring to fit on the inside of the axle and drilled/tapped it to M3. It works pretty slick but I'm not good enough to make and sell something like this. Maybe someone else can. I wonder if you can find tube in the right size and just cut about 1/4 inch sections then add tapped holes.

I re-tapped mine to 4-40 screws and the lockouts too. The screw stops because the lockout out is tapped to so once its down no more spinning.

Thanks all, I'm looking at the inside ring idea - no beef tubes ($$$ is an issue right now) but the same idea for the screw holes

For a quick fix, you could also drill out another spot in the plastic with a 1/8th" drill bit. I'll get a picture later. It's held up to major abuse and cart wheels.

All 4 corners on my Caddy have stripped too. I'm thinking of just TIGing them on. There really is no need for them to come off.

I would love Beef Tubes but living in Canada makes them more expensive with our dollar going down now and shipping sucks!! Well Canada Post sucks I should say...lol.

I have a fix that hasnt been mentioned. I recently went through the same issue. I changed the round head short screws to a flat headed screw. Then I wrapped the axle with aluminum tape between the c-hub/lockout and link mount until it was the same height. Then i slapped a metal hose clamp and tightened it down.
